A touchscreen phone is stll a far superior solution. You will never get your project scaled down that small in comparison. A 25$ used Android with bluetooth and an app crushes every start up scam that has surfaced in the past five years.

Meanwhile review the small production run Teensy based VControllers

I guess just because of the shear power difference, android will surely destroy any arduino based MIDI controller.

I don't see the comparison - one is a simple customisable solution for integrating into a range of projects or products, the other is a mobile telephone. Yes the phone has a lot of power and you can do lots with apps but is neither a cost effective nor practical solution for integrating in products and if you rely on this tech to run your project or product you are giving yourself a lifetime of headaches to keep updating for new OS and hardware.

The trick with making anything is use the power you need to do the job and no more - if the Apollo moon lander had as much computing power as a modern mobile phone, not only could people land on the moon but they could have also posted a viral Tik-Tok video while they were there - I'm sure we can agree that would have made the whole endeavour infinitely more impressive and worthwhile...

I see the point, as I went out to solve problems too. The Modular synth crowd is doing their thing too when they could have small and compact in the meantime. So don't think we only promote one ideology. I think  whats best is that we promote them all and the winner is the user.

For example, you may want midi knobs and space is not an issue. Go for it and do you. I went into this to create my own thing. THAT is a very important part of getting to the end result. The Question . . . " WHAT DO I NEED ?"

So if you can build it go for it and evolve, but along the way, good thing or great thing we have this place where the giant mindset, the industry standard mindset could sway you or offer suggestions that make it beyond comprehension. Often products get bumped onward with our input and output, so good to have you contributing.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts sir. That is a wonderful insight.
