Does anyone have experience with the guitars up on Aliexpress?
Some seem like they are good builds that would be perfect to experiment on.
It is just impossible to tell via pictures and know what dealers sell the better stuff.
Thanks Bill

I have bought some parts from them a few years ago.  When you open the box, it will look great.  But you have to realize that the wood has not been dried correctly.  If you're confident in your skills, you can always work on the issues that arise over time.  The main one is fret sprout.  That will undoubtedly occur.  Most necks will need a fret leveling, crowning, etc.  Don't expect a Warmoth quality neck.   If you can do the work yourself, it might be a fun job.

The main problem I have with AliExpress lately is their blatant piracy of well known brands.  The latest I've seen was a "Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz set".  As soon as I saw this listing, I realized why I hate the sound of the newer Kramer 84s.  They sound "Ice-picky".  I have older 84s that sound incredible.   I would guess that the newer ones have Chinese JBs, not actual Seymour Duncan pickups.

The real problem with all this is when these end up on the used market.  You think you're getting a quality guitar, when you're getting a poor counterfeit.

Whenever I sold an AliExpress part, I ALWAYS post that this is NOT an actual part, but a copy.

Thank you that is what I figured.
I studied and got real good at fret work a few years back, so I would be game for that.
Could be fun.
There also is this seller which had some good reviews online:

I skip them, instead I seek USA inventory of "LS Customshop" built guitars. Offered by Numerous  Ebay sellers

Thank you Steve. I will check USA sellers. I would imagine all the Floyd Rose style bridges need to be replaced.
There is a LOT of stuff out there.
These are great search tips!

Steve what are the specs on how thick the necks are on these Chibsons. I am trying to find out how thick they are at the first and 12 fret.
thanks!

They vary, and attempt to match the typical profile of the original instrument

Frankly I suspect all will be too thick for your preference

My white LP ,  sunburst explorer,  yellow firebird, white SG  have 0.9" inch thick at 1st fret, 1" at 12th fret  1958 profiles

The flying V is more like a '63 slim profile , 0.82" at 1st fret, 0.85 at 12th fret

All are 11/16" width at Nut.

The Ibanez Jem clones, EBMM Axis clones from same ebay sellers  will have a much thinner ibanez profile under 0.80" thick

Thank you, yes they are fat boys!
WOW inch thick. Thats a home run derby neck.
I like an .82mm at the 12 but NO thinner or my hand cramps.
I buy up the old Ibanez maple necks from 2013 which are .82mm or thicker at the 12th and 3 are piece quarter sawed. They are solid and the fret work was great then. They were finished by hand then. The upper line Ibanez necks have always been just too thin for me to play.
The V neck would be nice, but the body is way not my thing.

All my chibsons have ebony looking stable fretboards, and excellent  fretwork - superior to my genuine versions
