Hello all and thanks for having me.
Does anyone in here know of a way to reassign SY 1000 switch functions globally?
For instance...I want:
The left hand 4 switches (BANK Down, BANK Up, 1, 2 ... respectively) to be my 1-2-3-4.
The top 2 on right to be BANK Down and BANK Up and bottom two on right to act as CTL 1 and CTL 2.
I have a feeling this is where I run into the caveat of "virtually every function" but it's worth a shot.
Thanks again.

Look at Control Assign Parameters in the reference manual.

There is a SYSTEM preference for all of the following:

[BANK-UP], [BANK-DN], [1]–[4] switch, CTL1–CTL6, CUR NUM, MANUAL1–MANUAL4, GK SW1, GK SW2

And these can also be overridden per patch. PREFERENCE: PATCH

In other words you can do what you want provided that your patches don't override the SYSTEM preference.

All can be changed globally, but not the way you specifically wanted.

The only option if you want exactly as specified,
in an extreme example, is to modify the SY-1000 internal switch connections,
and physically cut circuit board tracks and solder in jumper wires between the foot switches.

I did manage to cut & paste the button labels as you required in the SY-1000 picture though ;)

Thanks folks! Maybe I'll just suck it up and use this magical device as is.

One really useful assign I've recently discovered is 'cur num' which would at least give you a controller on the bottom row

It's a clever way to not waste that button after your patch is chosen!
