Not sure if this has been covered.  Trying to control Voicelive GTX via midi so that when I select a user patch on the GR-55, it automagically changes to the appropriate patch on the GTX.

I've got TX Switch set to n and it looks like it has all the user banks and patches matched by default so that when I select a patch, it changes to the corresponding location on the GTX.   What I would like to do is specify which location on the GTX for it to map to.

Anyone doing this already or know how to accomplish this?  As always, thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide.

Usually done on the receiving midi device, which is why the GR-55 has a RX-Midi-Map Table, so the patches can be arranged in a specific order on that device.
Why is it done this way?
If you imagine a midi foot controller pedal used to control 3 midi devices daisy chained together by midi.
One device might want a different patch order for a received midi program change, while the other two stay the same.
It makes sense that the single receiving device is optioned to change the order on a common program change.

In the VoiceLive GTX, if an option exists to change the RX Midi Map, do so there, or else move the saved order of user patches in the GTX patch memory slots (shift your patches around).

Thanks for the response.

Not sure I understand clearly how it makes sense though.  In your example, you mention a footswitch that is controlling multiple devices...let's call it a key board and a vocal effects unit.  Let's now assume you want to send PC054 to get to a patch called "lady Gaga" on your keyboard and "Gaga Vocoder" on your vox pedal... your midi controller would output a single PC of 054 and both of the controlled units would need to have the correct patches assigned.  In that scenario, you need to order your patches appropriately.  If you had a third and you only wanted the 3rd one to change, again, you would need to order patches accordingly on the receiving device.  Makes sense.

However, what I'm trying to do is leverage the GR-55 to change my vocal patches on the GTX.  The GR-55 has both midi in and midi out but isn't flexible enough to specify which PC to send on each patch.  So I'm stuck aligning my GTX patches with the order of the patches on the GR-55.  The issue with this is I have multiple songs that have specific GR-55 patches but use my generic/standard vox patch which is located in User Bank 1-1.  As the evening moves along I might be all the way up into the 20 bank by set 3 so if I could specify the PC change location, I could continue on my way with the Gr-55 and it would simply get the vox patch switched over....but since I can't, every time I switch to a GR-55 patch that uses my generic vox patch, I need to duplicate the vox patch on the GTX in the exact location being sent by the GR-55.  This in turn means I waste at least 40% of the available user slots on the GTX.  It becomes a consideration when you have 200+ songs in your repertoire.  Seems odd to have transmit functions activated but without the flexibility of specifying what to transmit.

Anyways, thanks for confirming that there is no other way of doing it.  Too bad really.... seems like something that would be pretty easy to implement right put of the gate.

Cheers.
