My left handed 1998 Godin LGX-SA with LR Baggs preamps has started failing. The acoustic preamp portion for the piezos will no longer output either via it's dedicated 1/4" output or the 13 pin output. (13 pin output and piezos work fine when outputting to my GR-33 however, as does the 1/4" electric guitar output). So now my dilemma appears to be not only replacing the entire preamp with RMC's full Poly X kit (which I don't really require, since I mentioned only the acoustic preamp isn't working, but apparently this is how RMC sells replacement kits), but then having the piezos desoldered backwards to accommodate a left handed setup, since RMC doesn't make a lefty specific preamp. Here's what Richard McClish at RMC had to say:

"Thanks for your interest in RMC products.

Well noted that you have a leftie LGX-SA which features LR Baggs pickup saddles and polyphonic
preamp. A customer of mine in Montreal who is an electronics technician recently purchased a set of Pow'r Bridge G pickup saddles and a Poly-Drive X preamp and installed them in an older leftie LGX-SA.

I believe he removed the pots and toggle switches from the main p.c.board and mounted them in the guitar, which allowed him to use the instrument as a fixture in order to mount the p.c.board onto the controls & switches and then solder all the pins, which resulted in a leftie main board.

Note that the new RMC round EQ board will function similarly as the old LR Baggs one since there is no left-hand version of that board."

I could leave the guitar as is provided I can find a good alternative to the piezo preamp by replicating acoustic guitar sounds (wasn't particularly impressed with the sounds of the now ancient GP10 comparatively to Variax sounds), but I really prefer having piezo or acoustic guitar simulation for blending in and out with my other two output voicings. And then, of course, with the advent of the newer GK5 and GM-800 guitar synth, I'm wondering if I should even bother with 13 pin or gutting and replacing the Godin's preamp and 13 pin output anymore. I'm torn, and open to suggestions.

What was Plan A again?  :D

Many thanks. I've reached out to LR Baggs again, so we'll see. (I had reached out to them initially years ago, but they were no longer making the circular acoustic preamp.

Well, I investigated all avenues. Talk about a run around!

-LR Baggs got back to me. They don't sell their newer kits directly, they only supply them to Godin.
-Godin got back to me. They do sell LR Baggs preamp kits separately ($199), however, they are not a direct drop in replacement and would require modding my guitar. Furthermore, they don't guarantee that my old piezos will work with the new system and thus I might need to replace the piezos, except they don't supply them because the older tune-o-matic bridge piezos are no longer made. (New wrinkle).

So it looks like my best/only? option any this point is to purchase the RMC Poly Drive X kit, (which is much more expensive at $499)...and then figure out how to wire it up in reverse.

...to be continued...
