Which speaker?

I hope someone can give me a bit of advice about the following:

I would like to buy the Boss GT-1000 Core and I understand it's best to use it with a frfr speaker type. Can you give me a recommendation for a good speaker (max. price €400,00)?

And is a studio monitor also suitable?

Thanks!

I suggest having a look at this thread

And yes at home studio monitors are fine.

Personally I go straight to the stage PA system + having them send back a mix to 2 monitors in stereo. I use this for all the units I have.
For rehearsal if there's no PA I have 2 15" Opera DB powered monitors + 2 small Roland micro monitors MA- 20 for my own close up listening , both work great.
( if I'm not using closed headphones)
Both the DB and the Roland monitors are bought a long time ago so they are discontinued but there's newer models of both.

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...

Thanks a lot for your reply!

Meanwhile I have bought the boss gt-1000 core and i have used it with a frfr speaker and with my Vox av60 partially valve guitar amplifier. I must say the I prefer the sound of the Vox.
But I also read I have to "bypass" the preamp of the Vox. But how do i do that?
Sorry I am a complete noob on this territory  ::)

I don't know the Vox amp.
But you can go straight to aux in I guess.

I'm using it as an audio interface with studio monitors and it sounds awesome in this config  8)

You can as well use most amps with FX-return, but that will inevitably color the tone. Also tried headphones, but the signal is not really conditioned for hi-fi so it sounds a bit lacking that way. So far studio monitors were definitely the best solution for me. Basically they're flat just like an frfr box, so best suited for the job. Stereo is also better than a mono frfr box on the floor.

Depending on the amp used, when going directly from GT into the FX-return, you might need to plug a dummy cable into FX send just to turn the loop on. My amp has that "feature" as well.

Don't forget to set the output type on the GT accordingly, there are several settings for different amp types available.

When using with monitors like above, the output must be st to "recording" (if you want to change cab sims and use IR's), or to "phones/line" if you want to use the "original" speaker as assigned by Boss.
