Hi, I just bought the Boss GX-100, one question is that there are 50 banks and each bank has 4 slots so totally 200 slots, they are all loaded with the factory default presets from u01-1 to u50-4, if I build a new preset from scratch, I do not want to overwrite any of the 200 existing preloaded presets, so where and how should I save without overwrite any existing one? Thanks!

I asume it is similar to other Boss units... You got 200 factory presets p1-1 ... p20-4  which are write protectet, and you got 200 user patches u1-1 ... u20-4 which are preloaded with the factory presets. The User patches are not write protected and you can edit or overwrite them. In case you edited one user patch you can reload it with the factory preset.

Select the certain factory preset and write it to the desired user patch.

Concerning the Boss GX100 Reference Manual Page 14 there are 200 User Patches and 100  Factory Presets...

Oh, ok, there are one hundreds System presets from P01-1 to P25-4, which are read-only, and there are 200 User memories from U01-01 to U50-4, which are writable, but all the 200 memories are already loaded with effects, I want to keep them without overwriting them, so if I build a new patch, is there a way to store it somewhere else instead of overwriting one of the 200 memories which are already loaded with effects? or I have to overwrite one in order to save it?
Thanks

You can use the Tone Studio software to save patch files to disk, but you will still need to use just one User patch memory slot to use as a save and transfer point.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

Only a questions to the pros...please don't hit me.

Are the factory presets different to the preloaded patches in the user memories? 100 vs. 200??? Are there really 300 different sounds??? Or are the factory presets also loaded to the user memories?

One would assume that the established protocol would be continued...   Don't know because I don't own one.
Read slower!!!   ....I'm typing as fast as I can...

The factory presets are also loaded into the user memories.
