Hi everyone! Glad to find this forum, as I think it will really help me with my GR-55.
Purchased one used, with a GX-3. Installed the pickup on my 335 clone and got it working. I've been spending time with the patches, exploring the sounds, and it's been a blast.
Since it's a used unit I think a lot of the user patches have been changed, but I'm not sure. Does a new GR-55's user patches come prepopulated with sounds? Or are they blank, waiting to be written to? Looks like I'm going to have to dig deeper into the manual, LOL.

Hi !!! 
The GR-55 comes with "Preset" patches (can't be overwritten), and 297 "User" patches (can be overwritten).
The factory out of box state of the 297 User patches is they are a copy of the preset ones,
which you can:
modify and overwrite.
initialize, tweak/modify, overwrite.
load in a patch file, overwrite.
load in a patch file, modify, overwrite.
into any of the 297 User patch locations.

So the User patches come pre-populated with settings, and can use any of the built in 910 PCM ROM synth tones.
