Dear ,

I dont understand why the GK-3 would not work with other kind of metallic strings such as silver strings used in classical guitar bass strings. I'm trying to find the physical principles on which GK-3 is based.

than you in advance for any comments
regards

interesting though such strings sound in between steel and nylon strings, as far as i can listen from various youtube videos. I was looking for something that would just allow me to keep the sound of my classical strings unaltered, except it would in addition drive (through the GR-55) the sound of a bass guitar (one octave below) superposed to my normal guitar bass strings.

It's a magnetic pickup - relies on strings with iron content which can be magnetized

Nylon strings will not allow a magnetic pickup to function

Thomastik makes a classical feel string set which do work with magnetic pickups

You can use a piezo based preamp and it would work. Ie RMC poly drive or Graphtech ghost.

You would also require under bridge piezo saddle pickups too, probably a modification not many would want for a classical instrument.
The strings would only require some iron content over the pickup poles for a GK pickup.

The Godin classical nylon models with built in GK interface works with ordinary nylon strings :)
