GT-100 LCD specification | need replacement
« on: December 05, 2016, 05:22:12 AM »
does anyone know what what brand/model or part number of GT-100's LCD display? I need a replacement.
Is it a custom made for Roland? or I can buy it on Mouser or RS components with a part number or something.
all I know is it is Graphic LCD (132 x 64 dots, backlit LCD), but that is not enough info.

some ass**** drop my beloved GT-100 and ruined the LCD display.
bringing it to service center is not an option for it will cost more much hassle to travel in my case.
ordering the LCD from service center is not an option either, they do not allow it.

I live in Philippines

here's a reference image for the LCD module:

Sorry to hear your unit got dropped - ouch.  This is one reason my VG-99 sits in a foam padded aluminum case called "the nuclear football" when it's not being used.  I know the 100 is a big unit around the size of a RC-300 so a case for it would be enormous.

Elantric - what do you think he should do?  Just shipping it to a repair facility would be cost prohibitive probably.

In Minneapolis where I live there are several places that do Roland and Boss service:

"The Good Guys"
https://www.facebook.com/GoodGuysProAudio

and "EMI"
http://emiaudio.com/

These ones that have been around for decades and are reliable place to get your gear fixed.  EMI is the place I've brought Roland guitar synth gear over the last 5 years and gotten repairs done when I've done something stupid or gotten a used RR Strat that was inoperative when purchased.

Depending on your location, there may be a similar set of facilities in your area.  I would go and check at the least since most companies don't ship parts to just anyone, only "authorized service centers".

I live in Philippines, I don't think calling Roland US is not possible, emailing US Support is not even allowed. They forces me to contact local Roland/Boss support.
Roland.com.ph page is kinda obsolete or unmaintained, email support feature is broken.

if anyone here know the specification or part number of the LCD, please let me know. I'll order it somewhere else if possible.

tearing GT-100 down and see for my self is not an option right now. negative force of nature might cursed me to mess it up and damage sensitive components (even though I have lots of experiences repairing laptops and computers, so I know the basics), plus I have to use them on my gigs and band practices everyday. so, can't risk it for now.
