Title: GT-3 And FX Loop
Post by: cx1uk on April 16, 2017, 03:18:31 PM
Hi y'all,

Just a quick question before I blow up my amp! I'm thinking of running my old GT-3 through the FX loop of a Fender HotRod Deluxe (Mark I). Has anyone done the same? If so, did it work OK? Is there anything I should be aware of, and am I in any danger of trashing either the amp or the GT-3?

Thanks for any tips/reassurance you can give.  :)

It will be OK.
The best setup would be four cable method (4CM), like this

guitar > GT-3n input
GT-3 EXT OD/DS loop Send > Fender amp input
Fender amp FX Send > GT-3 EXT OD/DS loop Return
GT-3 L/Mono output > Fender amp FX Return.

The GT-3 external loop is part of the OD/DS effect, so select the OD/DS type to EXTERNAL.
This will enable the Fender preamp as the GT-3's OD/DS effect.

Thanks Gumtown! If you say it's OK, I can go ahead with confidence.  :)
