Cort has introduced the newest addition to its KX series of guitars, the 7-string KX500FF.

The new guitar offers updated hardware, a double-cutaway, a new-to-series fanned-fret design and EMG 707 pickups.

The guitar's fanned frets provide a 25.5''to 27'' multiscale and further strengthen the low B, while a single hardtail bridge with string-thru-body design improves resonance and sustain. A volume knob, tone knob and three-way toggle switch provide further control, while locking machineheads improve tuning stability as well as facilitate easy and fast string changes.

The guitar is available in two colors, Star Dust Black and Star Dust Green, each created with a Poplar Burl top on Swamp Ash body. The neck is 5-piece Maple inlaid with two long streaks of Purpleheart, aLatin American wood that adds a splash of color. A Madagascar Ebony fingerboard corresponds to the black binding and black nickel hardware.

The price of the KX500FF has yet to be determined. For more about the guitar, stop by cortguitars.com.

Mad Hatter Guitar Products

Mad Hatter Guitar Products has announced the release of the Earth Board.

A collaboration between Mad Hatter and Earth Pedal Systems, the Earth Board consists of a lightweight aluminum frame supporting isolated steel rails and "Pedal Plates" that attach to any effects pedal. Each Pedal Plate has magnets that hold strong to the steel rails of the Earth Board for easier positioning on the board than standard Velcro.

The steel rails of the Earth Board serve a second purpose in providing voltage to each Pedal Plate through the magnets to power their supporting effects pedal. The Pedal Plates are designed in three different voltages, 9VDC, 12VDC and 18VDC.

Although the Earth Board can be powered by a standard 9VDC power supply, it is designed to operate with a lithium rechargeable battery for clean isolated power. The battery can easily be mounted to a Pedal Plate and placed anywhere on the Earth Board for hours of clean pedal power.

The Earth Board has a starting price of $399.99. For more information on the board, stop by madhatterguitarproducts.com.

Duane's 6 String Bass model is going to be announced at Fender/ Gretsch booth

Majiken

I seriously wonder how much they will want for this.... decent wireless goes for under €200 in the meantime, and in instances where wired is necessary, one could go into a decent normal DI box and terminate the XLR cable with the Monacor MA-100/15, costs €22 at Thomann in Germany and works like a charm.  I use them when I take a balanced monitor signal to my Roland Cube100Bass amp.  I think there is internal signal isolation, have never had to deal with hum issues, plus you can switch between high and low impedance at the adaptor, depending on what you are running your signal into.  I imagine the TC is a good piece of kit, just don't perceive a huge market for this specific item, unless the price point is attractive.

(Picture: provided by TC Electronic)

The TC Electronic Teleport GLT Guitar Transmission System Teleport is a powerful active system designed to convert a balanced low-impedance (Lo-Z) signal back to a non-balanced (Hi-Z) signal. This allows distances of up to 300 feet (100 meters) with absolutely zero signal loss - the ideal solution for long cable runs on large stages and in the studio. The system consists of a transmitter (GLT) and a receiver (GLR).

The guitar is connected to the high-impedance jack input, while the Neutrik XLR output is connected to the Teleport GLR receiver. The GLT Transmitter ensures the highest sound quality and transmits the signal unadulterated.

The Teleport comes in a red aluminum case with protective silicone rubber corners, and is therefore also prepared for the rough stage everyday ..

OK! NOW, you're talking!

Not what I'm looking for right now- my FTP kit should arrive tomorrow- but I am seriously impressed by the Youtube bass demos.... Now, if they would just allow you to send them "your neck" and sell you the body innards as a kit, that might make it much more attractive from a marketing perspective....

Hey, I got to talk with Steve Chick, the developer of the Industrial Radio Solange 6 MIDi Guitar for about 45 minutes today. It really does sound like the solution for a guitar player who wants guitar-to-MIDI done right. His combination of wired frets with a bridge that detects bends combined with features that anticipate mis-triggers and glitches and filters them out are all pretty compelling.

His company is tiny and located in Australia, and it is $4k. But, he may actually have it as close as anybody has come thus far.

It's January and that can only mean one thing — we're getting ready for NAMM. Eventide will be exhibiting at the Anaheim Convention Center on January 25 - 28th. We are excited to meet our friends at our new booth 4633 in Hall D, where we will have live demos of our soon-to-be-released flagship, the H9000, along with our effects pedals, our new H9 Control Android app, plug-ins and Eurorack delay.

We're happy that some of our favorite artists — including Living Colour's Doug Wimbish, the legendary Bootsy Collins, Peter Freeman and more — will be performing at our booth.

Hey Android, Love You Too

The long-awaited Android version of the H9 Control app is currently in limited beta and will be available for download soon. The H9 Control app allows you to manage H9 parameters, presets and settings.

DDL 1745 NAMM TECnology Hall of Fame Induction

We're honored to have our first digital audio product, the Eventide Clock Works DDL 1745, joining our H910 and H3000 Harmonizers® in the TEC Hall of Fame. The DDL 1745 was one of the first ever digital delays. In fact, DDLs were the first pro audio digital devices of any kind! Designed by our founder Richard Factor in 1971, it delivered a whopping 200 msecs of delay for just the cost of a new car.

Check out the "User Interface". No LEDs! Just a power switch, a level control, a couple of incandescent bulbs and four big knobs. Primitive yet iconic. Learn more

Zivix Showcasing Third-Generation Smart Guitars at NAMM—Jamstik 7 and Jamstik 12
Zivix

SOURCE: PR Newswire

New smart guitars include more frets, improved ergonomics, and all new sensor technology for significant performance improvements.

ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- NAMM -- Zivix is showcasing the Jamstik 7 and Jamstik 12, next-generation models of its multi-award winning jamstik+ Smart Guitar MIDI controller. The new seven and twelve fret models open up even more musical possibilities for guitarists, learners, and producers alike. The two products are being showcased for the first time at NAMM: Booth #11725 Hall A.

The Jamstik 7 and Jamstik 12 are powered by all new technology and were designed from the ground up based on market research and user feedback. Each model will boast a new capacitive touch fretboard, aiding in reliability and cost effectiveness. Zivix has also developed a state of the art optical sensing method for gathering pick and strum velocity.

"When we first released the original Jamstik, our goals were to make learning guitar more attainable for beginners, and to make music production more accessible for guitar players. The response from guitarists, learners, and reviewers has greatly surpassed our expectations," said Ed Cannon, CEO, Zivix. "We've listened to their feedback, and are excited to expand on our initial offering by catering to both the learners and players; cementing the jamstik line of Smart Guitars as an integral part of the future of music instruction and creation. We are also proud to say these new models will be Made in the USA."

Jamstik 7
At just over 18 inches long, the new design of the Jamstik 7 stays true to the portable size of the jamstik+ while adding more frets for improved playability and ergonomics. Measures were taken to ensure the model remains cost effective in production—yielding a more accessible price point for those that want to learn or play while they travel. Initial testing points to over 72 hours of playtime on included AA batteries, so players will have one less charging cable to worry about. Wireless connectivity over Bluetooth means players can connect to their favorite devices and start playing in no time.

Jamstik 12
At 25.5 inches in length, the Jamstik 12 is the longer, faster, and more feature-equipped model for the players and tech enthusiasts. Compared to the Jamstik 7, it will feature more processing power, along with a denser array of sensors in both the capacitive touch fretboard and optical pickup. These advances capture more nuances of expression for improved accuracy and a more realistic guitar performance. A Li-ion battery will be rechargeable over a specially equipped USB port capable of transmitting lightning fast MIDI. This cabled connection is complemented by a BLE chipset for wireless connectivity.

Zivix will be crowdfunding on Kickstarter this coming March to bring these new smart guitars to market. The expected retail price of the Jamstik 7 and Jamstik 12 will be $199 and $399, and both will be available at a discount to early backers. Interested parties can sign up to be notified upon launch at https://comingsoon.jamstik.com/.

The World's 1st iOS-Powered Travel Guitar will be exhibited at NAMM 2018
Elga Guitars

Elga Guitars will show their first guitar on NAMM 2018. Travel size acoustic guitar with built-in piezo pickup and audio interface won the freedom of movement by attaching iOS device such as iPhone directly to the body. The player can output sound from earphones or mobile speakers with AUX IN. So it can be played with extremely minor equipment.

Masao Nishina, founder of Elga Guitars said "Unlike its image, electric guitar has never been free at all. To produce professional sounds, we needed a lot of equipment like a mountain, and the truck was more suitable for moving than the car. Our guitar incorporates piezo pickup and audio interface in travel size acoustic guitar. By directly attaching an iOS device such as iPhone or iPod, it releases the electric guitar from the studio as if the Sony's walkman unleashed music in front of a heavy amplifier and speaker."

The player can use iOS applications provided by a third party such as amp & pedal simulator, DAW, looper, backup band simulator, tab score viewer, gaming lesson, tuner, mixer using multiple applications simultaneously, audio to MIDI synthesizer, etc.

There are lots of amazing apps for iOS for guitar players, but it has not spread to popularity as it is forced to place the device far from the player's fingers to operate. Our guitar always has a screen on hand by fixing the device with the magnet on the side of the guitar. So, it will promote further popularization of iOS applications.

This guitar is suitable for young beginners, party bands, basking, of course, for traveling. The player can practice with excellent methods and sounds anytime, anywhere, so he/she can be a good player in a short period of time.

The founder also said "I remember the first time I got on the usual train with Sony's WALKMAN. The familiar scenery of the train window seemed to be a movie with background music. I also found that Dylan is nice when taking a bus. Apple's iPod also changed the world. When shuffling the library of thousands of songs, I thought that the best DJ exclusive to me appeared. So music gained freedom of movement. But still music production is not leaving the studio due to the anchor of heavy equipment and electrical power.

Elga Guitars created the guitar world WALKMAN by attaching an iPhone to a travel size guitar. This is the reinvention of the guitar in the era of mobiles. Guitar sound acquired freedom of movement. With Elga Guitars, future guitar music will reflect the local wind, the smell of the earth, the brightness of the day and the temperature and humidity, in short, the roots more."

Elga Guitar will launch a crowdfunding campaign on INDIEGOGO.

STORY
Why did I think about this guitar
Only Martin Backpacker remained
When I emigrated to India as an expat in 2010, I had to dispose of almost all instruments, and only Martin Backpacker remained. This was left because the AC/DC members autographed the bodyfront and Malcolm Young played a legendary riff of "Back in Black" in front of me. Originally I was not an enthusiastic guitar player, but as I got used to India, time to pick up the guitar has increased and I found the drawbacks of this guitar that I have not noticed before.

Early-style Martin Backpacker is a very advanced and beautiful design, but playability and sound are sacrificed by it. I can not sit and play, It has only 16 frets. Because there is no truss rod in the neck, only extra light gauge strings can be used. So the volume is small. Head dropping is severe. To raise the volume it would be nice to open another sound hole on the body side, but I hesitated to remodel the AC/DC signature.

Fantasized the ideal travel guitar
I did not know whether it could be realized, but decided to design my own travel guitar for the moment. For amateurs, it seemed the most difficult to manufacture neck and fret board, so I decided to divert it from other guitars (Ferunandes Nomad) and made detachable of short scale,·22 frets specification. In order to sit and play, to hang the right side of the body, to relieve the head falling, I brought the strap pin position to the left and made it a Stratocaster style. I added the sound hole on the side for the monitor.

Piezo can make good sound
Meanwhile, the DAW also resumed. In the past you needed a number of synthesizers, effectors, and mixers, but now it's enough for a laptop computer and an audio interface. Pasting the contact piezo microphone on Martin Backpacker, and passing through the amp simulator in the PC makes it easy to reproduce "that sound". It was the moment I found out that I do not have to use Hambacker pickup.

Found a guitar manufacturer
In 2016 I found a guitar manufacturer in Kolkata by chance. I completed my idea right away and tried ordering. What was completed in two months was that the playability was bad and the sound was not satisfactory either. I tried to change the design and reorder, but the owner declined what the employee had made without permission, I decided to look for another manufacturer.

It was introduced from a dealer of Indian musical instruments I was keen to know that an old man was making some acoustic guitars with a flea and a canna at his hut. He can not understood English. But I show a 1/1 design drawing he said he try. There is no reason not to place an order.

Amp simulator in iPhone
At that time, I got the used iPhone 5 and found that the music creation apps are substantial. Tuner, Tablature viewer, DAW and many Amp simulators. However, the sound was good but the wiring was complicated. There are also three cables from the audio interface to the iPhone, guitar and earphone. Recent earphones have only 1.2 m cable. Putting the iPhone on the desk makes me feel strange posture. The idea that the audio interface builting into the guitar came straight to me. In addition, I decided to know the product that uses the magnet to fix the iPhone to the car and I got the idea. Refined the design, fit the width of the guitar to iPhone 5, to be placed between the strap pin and the side sound hole.

I Got It!
It was the 3rd time I got a guitar as I designed (some pictures took at Zanskar is the second one). The sound is not bad. A lot of travelers says they want it. It meens that it is time to think about mass production.

Talbo since 1983
Tokai Gakki Co Ltd

The revolutionary aluminum-alloy body has the advantage of stability, unobtainable with the traditional wooden body, and responds directly to the feeling of the player.  With its clear, noise-free sound and overwhelming power, resulting from the aluminum-alloy body that allows the body to act as a shield block, Talbo has been creating electric guitar history.

Introducing the Sensel Morph: Creativity Anywhere
Sensel

We're extremely proud that we shipped all the Morphs to the original Kickstarter backers. But what about the rest of the world who didn't know such a thing existed or was possible? Now we can all introduce the Morph to them, as we've redesigned our website with an integrated shop, and ramped up our inventory and production. Now, anyone can order a Morph and experience the next-level interface for whatever creative drive they entertain. Because we want to spread the word far and wide, we made a crazy video. We teamed up with some extremely talented Los Angeles residents:  the underground production duo Epikker (Henry Strange and Suniel Fox), dancers Dishon Hall and Brian Edwards, and filmmaker Steve Elkins. We setup in the Happier Camper facility, where they make some of the most unique camping trailers to ever hit the streets (and deserts, mountains, and coasts!). Check out the results where Suniel and Henry perform a live version of their remix track "Everyday." We think it proves the point of the Sensel Morph: you can be creative anywhere.

JOE GORE GUITAR PEDALS
New for 2018

CULT GERMANIUM CHANNEL
Primitive tone, modern control
Cult Germanium Channel is the expanded version of the absurdly dynamic Cult Germanium
Overdrive. Guitar Player magazine calls Cult "The most dynamic overdrive we've heard."
Vintage Guitar declared it "one of the most
flexible fuzz units we have ever tested." Tone
Report says, "Cult's dynamic range is
freaking ridiculous." Users include Richard
Fortus of Guns N' Roses, Pharrell Williams's
Brent Paschke, and Brian Ray from Paul
McCartney's band.
Cult Germanium Channel's added controls
shape tones before and after the drive
circuit. Variable input capacitance yields
everything from bright '60s-style treble
boosting to corpulent Sabbath-style sludge. A
fastidiously tuned 2-band active EQ stage
helps you dial in the perfect emphasis. Or
you can bypass the EQ stage to replicate the
sound and feel of the original Cult.
PURR VIBRATO
Sublime simplicity
Purr provides phenomenally warm, smooth, and sexy vibrato. Its
pulsations are hypnotic, immersive, and less fatiguing than most
modulation effects. Purr just seems to gush.
Don't modulation pedals need separate rate and depth controls? Not
necessarily. This one-knob scheme just works. Rate and depth are linked
in an elegant ratio that simply sounds gorgeous at all settings. Purr uses
standard 9-volt power supplies, but its internal charge pump generates
18 volts for nice, airy headroom. Separate wet and dry outputs create
bitchin' faux-stereo through two amps. Coordinated guitarists can spin
the oversized knob with a foot.

SCREECH OCTAVE FUZZ
OVERTONE OVERDOSE
Screech is descended from vintage octave fuzzes like the Ampeg
Scrambler and Dan Armstrong Green Ringer, but it's not a clone. It
provides much clearer octave overtones, and you don't need an
extra booster for great results.
Most octave fuzzes perform best when you play near the 12th fret
using the neck pickup. But Screech delivers potent octaves
regardless of neck position or pickup setting. Dual footswitches
toggle between octave sounds and powerful non-octave distortion.
A tri-color LED indicates octave status even when bypassed.

PORKOLATOR DISTORTION
Buzzy, fuzzy, and totally badass
This pedal is a terrible choice for the ol' Tuesday night blues jam.
Porkolator's crunch is hard and edgy, more like an overdriven tape
recorder preamp than a warm vacuum tube. The design descends from
the 1970s Harmonic Percolator, a once-forgotten pedal rediscovered by
producer Steve Albini and DIY builders. Like the original, Porkolator
employs a curious pair of silicon and germanium transistors in reverse
polarity.
But this is no clone. The tones are even more aggressive, and there's far
greater tonal range. While the original featured only passive input and
output trim controls, Porkolator adds adjustable input capacitance (a
sort of a "crisp-vs. fat" control). A new mid-circuit gain stage introduces
kinky new twists. Active JFET boosting adds clarity, sparkle, and
volume. But despite all that gain, Porkolator cleans up remarkably well
when you lower your guitar's volume knob. If you enjoy controlling
distortion from your guitar, you'll be in hog heaven.
