Hello loopers,
Just a bit on my looping background. I had one of the original Lexicon Jam Man loopers, with expanded memory way back in the 90's when it was new.  Over the years, I maxed out the usability of that device with a MIDI footswitch that allowed me to switch loops, overdub, fade, etc.  Then I kind of lost interest in the 00's.   More recently I began looking for high quality looping systems for practicing - where I could create or sample loops of interesting music, put it into the looper's memory, and then easily access it later when the mood struck.  So I started out with a Lexicon JamMan stereo, then moved on to a Roland RC-50 and ultimately an RC-300. Each of these devices had its good points but I found the user interface to be very complex and lacking in the ability to do things that seemed obvious to me, like build up loops for verse and chorus sections independently and then switch between them on the beat.

So recently I sold all of that stuff and bought a second hand iPad and iStudio to give it midi and audio outputs. I'm using a $15 iPad app called "Loopy" and it finally handles everything I've been looking for. It can send or receive midi clock, so drum machines and other toys can be synced, I can save and load "sessions" which can include up to 12 discrete loops that I can enable or disable.

Just wanted to provide the results of my research to the group. Now on to this new toy I found. I was looking for a very simple looping device that I could use for practice in my living room while watching TV. I was looking for the ability to load in loops and jam tracks and then play along with them. I found this interesting Chinese looper and have one on order.

Update- I receieved the NUX LoopCore over the weekend and it is indeed a very nice piece. Build quality is very good. Audio quality is good (20 bit a/d d/a). The unit comes with 4GB of memory which you can access via USB to backup and store loops or to put backing tracks into the 100 memory positions so you can play along with the backing tracks.  The included drum patterns are digital samples, not synthesized tones, and sound very much like any normal drum machine. The manual talks about 40 different patterns but then only describes 20 so I'm not sure which is right on that.  The unit has a lot of function packed into a small MXR sized box, and it includes a stereo jack for an extra set of footswitches to allow you to control things better.

For $100, this looper easily matched the Lexicon Stereo Jamman and the Boss RC-50 in my mind. Excellent value and I recommend it.

Hi Roy.

Your comments are very interesting for me.

I bought my first Lexicon Jamman in 1994, the second one in 1996, and I bought chips for both, that I used to connect via MIDI. I looped many years with these devices and a zoom 9050. Then I sold the Lexicons, this year I bought a GR-55 and now I was thinking about RC-300, until I read your comments about Loopy, an interesting option 'cause I already own an Ipad 2. I'll check it out, if I manage to connect the guitar using a video cable. If it works, I can decide what interface is better. I'd use it either for songs or ambient guitar.

About the 20 patterns, by this time you surely have discovered they count 20 in 4/4 + 20 in 3/4.

Thanks for your posts!

So, where can I buy one?  Okay, I see your link but it comes up with 403 forbidden.  Eagerly awaiting an audio example of your explorations.

Okay, this was neat:

Only downside I can see is the stereo in is a bit awkward (I always go stereo in stereo out in any looping setup I use).

What about undo?  As an RC-300 owner that's something I use frequently but it's very slow to respond.  And in some ways the RC-300 isn't an "instant reaction" device and to make it work the way I want I employ a few workarounds.

I DO have to say for the price and features aboard this little yellow box will almost KILL nearly any major make looper out there, I think a lot of people will need to step up their game at this point.

For the price, the onboard drum machine, multiple loops, stereo in/out and 24-bit audio make this a serious contender against anything else from what I can see.

There are five more available right at this moment from that same seller.

I think it must be some sort of seller ploy. I saw the same thing you did, he only had one more left until you purchased the " last one".

And this seller has one For $52.99 plus $20 shipping.

...more of a standard practice on eBay than you perhaps believe....

I just got my Loop Core in, the $80 one on sale. I haven't had a chance to work it all of the way through.
But, my first impression is that this little baby is the steal of the year at this price! It does seem to be well made, and it is jammed full of features, some of which my multi-hundred dollar loopers don't have.

And it's really small.

The  ability to have multiple tracks up/down controlled by a footswitch (external) with a seamless transition between tracks is a rare feature in loopers, and really useful if you use backup tracks or (in my case) ambient textures to bring in and out.

Really great!
