Hey gang,

Looking to get a true interface to bump up from the irigHD.

I recently got the new Lightning to Lightning and USB3.0 connector allowing use of any USB class compliant interface with my iOS devices. Would be nice using the same interface on PC too. Looking for one with midi input so that I can use that for switching and stuff.

My biggest question is how do the converters ADC and DAC affect the tone and audio quality of the recordings?

Especially interested in how the interface preamps affect amp sim and fx sim stuff.

looking under $200

RME, Apogee, Prism, Antelope,
It's more a function of the grade of the analog components and PCB layout in A/D section these days (= lower noise floor)

I would avoid Alesis, PreSonus, Tascam,

Yohanes

Yamaha Pacifica 510V
Roland G-707
Godin Freeway SA
Boss GP-10
Roland GR-50

GuitarBuilder

A Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 would be a good upgrade for you.  Works well with iOS, Mac, and PC.

FWIW, I've had fine results with my Tascam 16x08.  I know this isn't universal as others have complained.
