I get hum even if I use the battery only with iPhone or iPad with no other devices. No Hum if I power from wall socket.clearly the battery is intended to power an iPhone or iPad (or two)so no idea how to resolve .

What brand / make / model battery are you using?

Could be a symptom of DC Supply current starvation, or Audio Ground Loop

Run the power hungry device with a USB Power Y cable and connect the Red USB connector directly to a dedicated separate power source, to "debug" using separate high current rating AC powered USB power adapter

After it works, then swap the high current rating AC powered USB power adapter with a rechargable high current rating USB power Block

Hey this thing actually works pretty well. Just one problem I'm facing , powering iPad ,trio + and gp10 with an external battery (http://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Multi-Voltage-Technology-Smartphones/dp/B005NGLTZQ). This is almost a mind blowing rig but am getting a hum in the signal I'm getting some kind of ground loop since I'm powering multiple devices from the same source. Any one have any idea on how to fix this?

I doubt it's a ground loop - more likely you're picking up AC from a nearby transformer.  Since you have a non-existent ground the system cannot deal with it.

That's an odd combination - since nether the Trio+ or GP-10 are USB Class Compliant devices.  Neither Trio + or GP-10 will be compatible with iPads or iPhones over USB, regardless of  Lightning <> USB Host  adapter type.

That Ankar Astro Pro2 20000mAh  battery is a bit underpowered compared to the 32,000mAh PowerAdd Pilot Pro below

Whoops Sorry I forgot to mention the FTP. my 13 pin output going into the both the GP-10 and FTP (via trim pots). The iPad has the FTP receiver via the new CCK and it's audio goes into the GP-10 aux input. GP-10 guitar output into Trio+ control input and GP-10 mono out into the Trio+ FX return.

The GP-10,FTP and iPad combo are slightly smaller foot print but a way more versatile version of the GR-55. All the advantages of the GP-10 and all the PCM and synths sounds via sample tank and other synth apps. GP-10 handles all the guitar cosm processing and the iPad handles all synths and other instruments. Finally adding the Trio+ and I think I have just become the guy wearing all the instruments cause the rig can do pretty much anything I can think of.

everything is powered from the anker battery which has 9V output and 3 usb charging ports.  the iPad battery lasts pretty long but I like the idea of having the option to use the rig even if the iPad is uncharged.

Thanks for clarification

Solve your ground loop noise by using this isolation transformer  cable between iPad headphone out and GP-10 Aux Input.

Hello,
I've recently tried using my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB with this new adapter. It does not require additional power, and that is really cool. However it exhibits a very strange behaviour.

First of all, the volume bar is gone on the iPad. Even if I keep my volume turned all the way down on my audio card, sound still comes out of the headphones. Another strange thing is that turning the volume up seems to pan the signal: at really low levels (something like 1/10) it pans a bit to the left, at 3/10 it seems to pan back to the center. The Mixer potentiometer (which should mix between input and playback signals) also seems to pan the signal and having it all the way on playback still outputs audio.

I am confused. I thought that maybe you guys could help me, since I've seen Elantric use a Scarlett audio card which hopefully isn't too different.

Does it work right with the old adapter? I can't speak towards that audio interface but I've noticed differences in the unpowered usage of this new adapter and the old cck Lightning adapter. For example using the from receiver and irig hd via unpowered hub does not work with this new adapter but does with the old one.

CaptainTuna

I was using a Y cable with the old USB adapter (just like Elantric explained in his other thread) and if I well remember it worked normally, but I'm not using the Y cable with the new adapter (I'm only powering the adapter with the lightning cable). I guess I'll try using the Y cable tonight when I get home and I'll report the results here.

I was eager to sell my Sonic Port VX and use my Saffire instead but I guess I better test everything carefully before I take any kind of decision.

The Focusrite Saffire USB is an older generation and draws more DC Current than Scarlett 2i4 and it's doubtful it has USB Class Compliance
https://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/saffire-6-usb
Never heard anyone having success with any Focusrite Saffire interface on iPad or Linux

Quote> I've tried to load snd-usb-audio module manually, but the nothing happen.

Then it is not class compliant.

The SonicPortVX remains my highest performance /easiest to use iPad Interface  - no fuss no muss with the monkey dance of proper connection order and proper power up sequence required when using the Scarlett 2i4

SonicPortVX  is my only iPad powered audio interface with Stereo Line Input and Instrument input and versatile built in mic system,  Stereo TRS outputs to drive a powered cab or feed a PA stage box. Its cleaner sound  / lower noise than my iConnect Audio 4+, Roland UA-22-EX DUO-CAPTURE EX , Steinbeerg UR44, and the Focsrite iTrack dock and Scarlett 2i4

CaptainTuna

You are right, the Sonic Port VX is not bad. I initally bought it hoping it could also substitute my Saffire audio card for use with my PC but I eventually kept both as I wasn't completely satisfied with the Sonic Port.

Other than that I miss a MIDI port on the Sonic Port VX. I have a MIDI foot pedal that I'd like to use with BIAS FX but the with the Sonic Port bluetooth seemed like the only way. I could maybe try using a hub and connecting the Sonic Port to the USB3 Camera Adapter and the foot pedal to a MIDI to USB converter and connect that to the hub as well.... gotta experiment a bit I guess.

I got a new micro USB cable - and now I can successfully use the the Line6 Sonic Port VX as a USB Class Compliant Audio Interface "- which means I can  use the Line6 Sonic Port VX with a powered USB Hub for Mobile Fishman Tripleplay on IOS rig.
- I use a USB Hub and connect a KMI SoftStep2 for MIDI control and FTP for Guitar to MIDI and Sonicport VX for Audio I/O  - all at same time to one iPad - as explained here
