So I've been messing with the monophonic midi part of the gt-001 and at first didn't care for the tracking but I have it figured out now and it tracks quite well but I do wonder, do you think BOSS will do anymore updates/upgrades on this unit and perhaps make it polyphonic which would make me so freaking happy. Anyone know any inside answers or anything lol. I really need poly for chords and what not.. the mono is good for lead stuff like trumpets, sax, keyboard leads and what not... but sometimes need some chord pads... Not sure why they couldn't add this.

Get a GP-10 if you want polyphonic guitar to MIDI from Roland/Boss.

No firmware update are expected for Boss GR-001

You got the money for me to get it? :p hahaha kidding... but yeah I don't want no gk pickup and what not... they could have done it with this gt-001. It's dumb how they do something half backwards and then just leave the products out there floating and doing no firmware etc.

The only worthwhile polyphonic Guitar to MIDI system that does NOT require a special non divided pickup is this one:

Jam Origin MIDI Guitar

Yeah I tried out the demo of it, and I'm not sure on it yet. I don't wanna spend $100 on some computer software. Rather have it in person.  I just wonder why boss just don't make it if they are putting monophonic in, sure they could put polyphonic but then I'm sure they would be afraid they wouldn't sale anymore GK-2/3 pickup stuff if they did that haha.

If it was that easy, I'm sure someone else would have made a mono in, polyphonic guitar to midi multi effects box by now.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

You'd think by now they would have  :P all the technology we have now and we're still not there after decades of messing with midi.

I just got done playing with the trial version of the jam origin and got it set up fast and liking it more now... but the only thing stopping me is it's just software, what happens if my computer crashes and i get a new computer etc.. do i lose a $100 software then, i don't know... but if they can make something like jam origin and MIDImorphosis on computers/apps etc.. why can't someone make a real unit with that programming in it so we can run our guitar into it and into computer to run poly synth vsti's, unless they do and im not aware.

Boxes that support playing chords and generating synths sounds are around - EHX POG, Boss SY-300

Yes I am aware of that as I have the sy-300 but it's still not the same :P Love the sy-300 but it can't do many things a normal vsti can like flutes, saxaphones, trumpets and good pads and what not, it excels at being more of a 3 osc synth in a guitar format/sound - I'm talking about like put the software of the jam origin inside a little hardware box and sale it, kinda like sonuus g2m does but instead of mono, it's poly.. Oh well guess I'll just keep dreaming.

brockdavisson has a great idea. Jam origin should partner with line6 or someone to make an affordable box or an expensive one. If it happened, I would still use the GK equipment for a while anyway. That is a long, long while.
