Hi,   Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I have the Katana head hooked up to my ES-8.   I'm sending a MIDI PC to the amp (amp MIDI channel settings are on the default of 1).  The amp changes as expected, but the internal speaker stops putting anything out.  Am I doing something wrong?   The amp is on the most current firmware.

Thanks,

Anthony

Does that mean you think there's something wrong with it?   Head is new, was just wondering if I was doing something wrong.   Only way to get it to play after that happens is to turn the head off and back on again.

Additional information:

When I have Tone Studio open on the computer, I can see that the program change happened, but still no sound (I'm only using the built-in speaker).  Found out that if I change the setting after the silence on either Tone Studio or using the buttons on the amp itself, the sound comes back on (earlier I said I could only get it to work again by restarting the amp).

Try headphones

You mught have created a patch anomaly that produces zero sound

Even using the stock patches?   I haven't changed any of the factory settings at all (amp is new).  All I'm doing is sending a PC to 1 on one button, and a PC to 2 on another button.  Same result when either button is pressed.  Tries with the headphones, same result as internal speaker.  When I'm on the Ch 2, if I press the same button on the ES-8 that switched it to Ch 2, the sound doesn't stop, so it looks like the issue only happens when changing channels, not when the PC command is sent.

Does the MS-3 send just one byte simple Patch Change, or does it send 3 byte Bank Change, Control Change, Patch Change.
If sending the latter, check your Midi CC# assignment that CC# 32 and CC#20  are not used, as they can be mistakenly using the Bank/Control change as CC# commands.
Just a theory

Actually I seem to recall the MS-3 is also capable of sending CC# data as well as Patch Change, check the MS-3 is not sending something muting the volume. (CC#7 it think?)

You da man, gumtown, that was it!  It (ES-8) was also sending CC 80 and CC 81. Turned both of those off and it's working perfectly now.  Thanks so much!
