Hello!

I'm building a W/D/W rig and the Boss 500-series will make up the wet section of my setup. The question is, can I use an expression pedal to control the amount of dry in the mix through the MIDI ports? So basically a smooth transition from kill-dry to a full wet/dry mix with a pedal? Or would I need to get a dedicated Line Mixer with an expression pedal input for this?

The Boss 500's will all sit in loops of a programmable Effect Loop Switcher, something like a Boss ES-8 which has MIDI ports and an Expression Pedal port. Theoretically this feels like it's do-able but better to ask those here who might have more experience with this stuff.

Read the user manuals of your 500 series effect pedals... see section "assign"...

You can assign a MIDI CC# to a certain parameter or function (volume wet/dry, effect type, effect rate, effect on/off) within your effect pedal.

If your MIDI-controller can provide MIDI CC# you can control the effect pedal.
