The Poly Ring Mod is possibly the only
polyphonic ring mod in a pedal, and that tracks down to a low B, in existence. Pretty remarkable. Interestingly, if you play up high on a bass VI style instrument tuned like a 5 string bass with an extra high string, and with the correct bass setting in the VB, it still tracks "guitar octave" notes but adds a kind of harmonic octave up instead, yet if you plug a GK guitar into the VB, the ring mod doesn't track the guitar's open strings, even if it tracked those pitches when the bass VI was plugged in. Strange.

I also discovered that for the basic monophonic ring mod to track a regular normal bass pickup input, you still need to have a GK signal going into the VB. If you unplug the GK signal, the ring mod doesn't track the normal pickup anymore. So this means all tracking for normal pickups is synced to the GK signal.

I wonder what exactly is used in a pitch tracking ring mod and why they didn't make a Poly Ring Mod in any of the V Guitar units and pedals.

Can't answer your question but I agree that the Poly ring mod is a gem.

All Poly FX in the VB99 are VERY good ,and are written as "bass oriented"
A lot more usefull than the one in the SY1000 wich is totally useless IMHO
