i love all the MCK based "logos" you are creating.

However, I feel we must go in a complete other direction.

As we all know. Unfortunately after 6 months, neither Gibson, nor Tronical has stepped up to the plate to provide the online resources the Dark Fire deserves.

So yes - our first order of business here is to build a Dark Fire community.

However, our long term agenda moves beyond todays hard to obtain "tool"   - we must design a F G N  logo which can NEVER  be construed as borrowing elements which are copyrighted and owned by Gibson, and / or Tronical.

Future Guitar Now is a completely independent site , not affiliated with anyone. Technically MCK is funding the month to month web hosting fees.
But we are "owned" by no one. I prefer to keep it that way.

True, with everyone's help, I suspect we will soon have the best Dark Fire resource on the web, with highest "signal to noise" ratio.

But the agenda here is to build a community that grows over time, beyond a singular product.

Yes - its a fact , in three years the Dark Fire will be yesterdays news, while ( with luck) Future Guitar Now will have a large resource of knowledge and members , to expand and spotlight the guitar technology of  2011. WE WILL NEVER DELETE OLD POSTS! All members contributions  have meaningful data which someone will need down the road.  Perhaps our existence allows you to obtain maximum returns when its time to sell your Dark Fire,as the new owner can join here and learn all he needs to know.
Track record and actions are best indicators, and we all know the "Gibson machine"  wants to spoon feed us. In 2011, i doubt you will see any mention of Dark Fire on the Gibson web site. We cant impact their "style". Look what they did with the HDX-6-Pro. They have zero use for it and zero use for those customers who purchased it.  In 2011, they will have zero use for the Dark Fire - and it will just fall off the Gibson Web site. In this economy, who knows where Tronical will be in 2011.

Future Guitar Now, escapes all that.

Our Forums here will eventually focus on  yet to be determined future gear.
This "future gear"  may be from a third party company, possibly a  future company not even established today.

So lets think outside the box for our logo

I was browsing Sci-Fi movie posters.

http://tinyurl.com/pxvfaj

In English "Future Guitar Now"  evokes a time machine sci-fi element. Perhaps we can borrow that theme, with a bold looking 3-D "Font"

Lets brainstorm a bit

and
Great work - you are very creative!

Very inspiring note. I'm having DeLorean flashbacks. Sorry, can't help it. Back to the future, future guitar now, Air DarkFire for SimonT... All these somehow will roll into one defining logo for sure. You are very right though. We are not owned by anyone and will never be. And that will be our long term power position. Feels great to be able to project that sense of future & power. Thanks for all the efforts on this one.

I'll make this my last one, for a while.  Any one have any other propositions?

Hey, I like that last one, Panrixx!

Gibson Les Paul Dark Fire (Serial: DF 0683)

Thanks.

Unless any one has original artwork, it would be necessary to pay for the image(s).  That last one has to be purchased but it is Royalty Free, so can be used as many times as you like afterwards.

I could have a go at doing something in Blender, but it would probably take me a while.

RS, thanks for the feedback on performance. I also noticed a sluggishness but thought perhaps thats related to my location. Now that I know US also experience similar comparative low performance I will take this up with our hosting company. Hopefully they can do something to help.

Again, purely as an observation, I can't say I have noticed any speed difference between this site and any others I use.

Thought I should let you know that I think this site is getting better and better by the day.  The download section is particularly helpful.  Well done and thanks MCK and Elantric.
