Very sad news. Let's hope his time on earth was a good one for him and those around him.

We sometimes never hear when we lose members that have passed but when we do hear about their passing it would be nice if we could post a link to their obituary so members that have known these people (even if it is just a virtual friendship) could pay their respects in their own way.

Same with Carl, he had been a member since 2008 and went through a lot of the growing pains that all of us did with this emerging tech. Early on all of us were trying to figure out how we could make this gear work for us and Carl was no exception. One of his accomplishments was he came up with a very portable rig he used to play the guitar parts in a musical live using the VG-99 and being excited that he could take the place of 2 guitar books in the musical with his rig. It is hard to believe that this was 13 years ago.

If anyone has more info they would like to share about Carl please post it so we can all remember our long time member.
RIP Carl, FLASH  :'(

Very sad news,
Condolences to family and friends.
I think the energy that Carlb put in life, music and in this forum will remain suspended between earth and sky.  Rest In Peace

Carl got here two years before me...He was just always here, always thoughtful and interested, and, it would seem, possessing an inner ability to sort the gold from the cr@p without making a big deal of it in the process.

His memory will be one that I treasure....his music I will always enjoy.

My condolences go out to all who loved him and mourn his loss.

Oh, I'll miss Carlb. I'm very sorry for him, and for all of us. Very sad.

Had a great time with him here and learned a lot from him. Whenever I saw his avatar here on the left side of a forum page, I often smiled before I had even read the post. He was funny and had good ideas.

Very sad news indeed. My condolences to the family.

Very sorry to hear he has passed.  I'll keep a good thought for his family.

:'( So sad to hear this!  :'( His music on soundcloud were, still is and will be superb music, to say the least!  He always had such encouraging comments not only here but also on the SY-1000 forum on Facebook... He even put 10 of my "made the same day improvs" on soundcloud as his favorites... :-[ I never got to share my real music with him where I really put in effort and energy...

I was really hoping we could do collaborations and stuff... This is so sad because he was such a great guy!  :'(

Conscioussness doesn't die with the body (just like dreaming is not dependent on the physical body). So our beloved "guitar-nerd" brother Carl Berger is probably at a good place! That is atleast what I think...wish him all the best! Coolest dude ever!

Just had to do it,  :-\ Carl was so supportive of my crazy "made in one day from scratch" improvs... So this one is for him  8)

If you mean the photo of Carl, the problem must be at your end, many have seen and 'liked' it

The news of Carl's passing hit many of us very hard.

I had just communicated with him on August 15th via Facebook after he posted the photo of his Gibson Super 400.

It serves as a reminder that we each have a finite amount of time to pursue our creative endeavors, so dusting off my work in progress recordings and making time to finalize several song ideas, while I still can.

We spoke and I was going to visit Minnesota next time I did US, if things opened up again.
I may go to Minnesota one day anyways to look into old Swedish heritage, but Carl will certainly be a sadly missing piece of the journey  :-\

Carl was a really nice guy and he loved his three cats dearly. I hope they are taken care of now.
I'll keep your rack with one of your cats on my homepage in memory of you Carl!

But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

I am saddened by the loss, he was a great contributor and I learned a lot from his postings.

Truly sad news, also sending my condolences to all of his friends and family.

Very sad to read this and very annoyed with myself that I missed it.

Always interesting, always constructive, never spikey. Seemed a genuinely decent bloke as we say.

Feels really odd that he won't be around any more. As already said, a reminder to live life to it's fullest. Hope you're setting up the first heavenly VG group for us up there for when we join  :-\

Wait - Carl was based out of Minnesota?   How did I not know this?  I'm based out of Minnesota.  One thing you might want to check out is the Swedish Institute in Minneapolis - it's a fantastic old building that reminds me of an old castle.   Well worth the visit.
