So, I had a go at this iconic synth track - 'Silence in the studio!'

This is a live take, all 'live' no overdubs (only 1 take) no apologies, but it should show the possibilities in more able hands  :) There's a lot of mapping going on and assigning going on (there could be more that I may add) so it's best to read the following so it doesn't sound like a train wreck!!

It uses 3 x Dynamic synths and the normal pick up:

Dynamic Synth 1
- Provides the sequence 'hi hat' rhythm (with accents) press CTL-1 to hold this sequence *Note -it only plays on the A string!

Dynamic Synth 2 - Provides the main sequence - Play E on the 7th fret of the A string press CTL-2 to hold.  Again this is loudest on the A and E strings. *Note This sequence volume is mapped to the GK volume control

This sequence is modified with Exp 2 mapped to the cut off and resonance as well as a wah pedal (cry wah) for extra resonance boosting
* Note this is pedal works in reverse (fully depressed - no effect) mainly because it is used for dynamic synth 3
Exp pedal 1 is mapped to the LFO2.

Dynamic Synth 3 -

Doppler effect, with pan and filter effect on Exp pedal 2 *Note -it only plays on the E string! Obviously Exp pedal 2 is doing other stuff but it works fine in context!

Normal pick ups input is put through a slow gear an amp model and some delay * keep Your regular guitar volume down until you need to use it!

Could you possible re-save another copy of this patch, it unfortunately seems to be an empty liveset with no patch inside it.

I've saved it again... hopefully that should work now, let me know if not. I've added some extra 'performance'/assignment details too!   :)

So here's a rushed video for a patch I made to emulate On the Run by Pink Floyd (see patch exchange) - I wanted to go into more detail about it but I just ran out of time... so all of the promises of more in depth work will have to wait! But, you get the idea from this. A career on YouTube does not await me... yet!

This video ought to sell about 250,000 SY-1000 units to stoners in their 50s & 60s who want to trance themselves pretty hard for hours & hours...

The perfect shelter-in-place activity.

I have updated and improved this patch here - essentially the same but the filters now work better and the tempo is slightly slower like the original!

I have a confession...

I bought a 2nd EV5 just for this patch...   ;D

I am not ashamed...

This is my favorite SY-1000 patch so far.

Yep.  Same "holy crap he actually did it" feeling as that classic VG-99 patch for Shine On You Crazy Diamond, where you can hold the chord for the spacey wine glass keyboard & solo over it...

Between this and the Ozric Tentacles sequencing I think the SY-1000 has potential that some of the early adopter/sellers had no clue was there.   With what I've discovered mine is near my VG-99 in the collecting of GK gear I'm keeping (along with the GP-10).

This inspired me to have a go too! The only think I've used for this is a Roland JX-03 Boutique module – a recreation of the JX-3P that was used to power the GR700. Well, a wee bit of echo too.

Just a follow up. I got it, and I love it!! Yeah, the editor is slow and crappy but I know of no other $1000 piece of equipment that will do what this does. Seems endless what can be achieved with this processor. Do hope Boss fixes the editor.

I use his editor also, but I guess I'm use to the layout from Boss (had GT 1000 and many other Boss pedals) maybe I will take a spend a day or 2 using just his editor. Still think Boss should fix theirs. Thanks though for the suggestion.
