Is it possible to use Midi to trigger sound from the VG99? e.g. so you could use it with a midi keyboard as input instead of a guitar. From reading posts here in trying to find an answer, if the VG99 contains no sounds and just manipulates the signal from the guitar, I'm guessing the answer is no.

You would be correct!
But you could plug a keyboard in the GUITAR IN and use it that way.
