Sure will do- Just got it couple of hrs back and setting up various connectivity such as the USB, Tone Studio etc.
I have a weird problem when trying the bluetooth connectivity which is primarily why I chose this unit above anything else.
I had firmware v1.05 that came with the unit and could not locate BLUETOOTH OPTION under MENU--> Hardware Setting --> OTHER.
So I though I need to do a firmware update which I did successfully. However, I am still unable to locate the BLUETOOTH option on the unit.
Does anyone have any idea of getting it?

What region of the globe are you located?

(India?)

Its my understanding that in Some parts of the world , the GT1000 is sold without Bluetooth, due to local compliance laws and requisite testing and certification for that region

In India, the TEC compliance test report is required, else the unit may not be sold with Bluetooth

This compliance testing is costly, often forcing manufacturers to disable Bluetooth for units sold in that region which lack TEC certification.

https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-certifications-and-permissions-required-to-launch-a-consumer-electronic-product-with-Bluetooth-FCC-CE-certified-and-WiFi-FCC-CE-certified-in-India

The GT-1000 manual vaguely mentions this

Talk to your local Roland/ Boss Dealer

Side note - similar situation occurs for Vox ADIO GT, which can not be sold in India with bluetooth

I imagine the Katana AIR is not available in India either

Yes you are right there. I am based in India and nothing on the box mentions the absence of a bluetooth here. I am now fighting it with the dealer and the distributor on issuing a refund and return. The returns are not so easy here in brick and mortar stores.
I am surprised and shocked by this absence of Bluetooth and not aware of what laws restrict it- but bluetooth is an old tech available in mobile phones from decades and the last thing I would have expected its absence in these gadgets. I mean, its just bluetooth and not Alexa cloud based service that I was expecting.

Would there be a possible fix from BOSS/Roland or any tricks of getting it enabled on the GT1000. If yes, then I may decide to keep it (Assume the dealer/distributor accept the returns and I am going to have a tough time). Else, I am going to do a youtube review and post in all possible forums citing this problem and Roland/BOSS not specifying the countries where this would be absent.

This officially sells in India at a much higher price in local currency equivalent to 1500 USD which is not inexpensive!

Can anyone help around any workaround options or return the product is the only way to go?

Since all units use the same firmware and I don't think the GT-1000 would be manufactured different,
I would guess a plug in jumper link to enable Bluetooth perhaps?

Actuallythey make different versions of the GT 1000 for various regions of the globe

the ones marked US are for North America the ones labeled  UK are for the United Kingdom the ones for India do not have the Bluetooth hardware module installed.

Youd have to import one from US, UK , EU

I understand your local TEC Certification is a costly endeavour and Roland/ Boss determined the ROI ( Return on Investment) did not warrant the projected number of sales in India  - so it was easier to remove Bluetooth module for units sold in India.

here's a youtube vid I just did to highlight the problem

Yes, we disable Bluetooth function of the units that ship to some countries at the factory.

Thanks Elantric.

IMHO, apart from the country laws, this is a problem with BOSS too. They need to clearly explicitly highlight on the boxes of these special 'handicapped' GT1000 units about the absence of standard features. BOSS manufacture these units separately without the bluetooth module hardware as confirmed by them...so they very well know which units are going to such countries...if they can manufacture the units separately, they MUST box and package them with proper list of exclusions written ON THE BOX and not just a vague generic note inside the user manual...
This to me is equally sinful as it is to not mark food packages with a RED or GREEN dot to distinguish between vegetarian and non vegetarian foods..
We need to voice it and hold BOSS responsible for misleading people. I am still debating with the distributor in India and expected to have a verdict tomorrow.

I totally agree I think they skirt the issue because lack of any local law in India for truth in advertising consumer protection

They save the 15 cent disclaimer sticker for units sold in India  ( sorry no Bluetooth in India)

The local Boss India GT-100 site does provide a small disclaimer

Legally its down to the statement on Page 11 in the GT100 Owners Manual  that prevents customer class action lawsuits

Hello, I would like to get some pictures of the GT 1000, to which if the bluetooth works, to see where the bluetooth board is connected. I want to install a GT1000 as it did not come from the factory. Thanks to who can help me.
