Hi,
I really don't know anything concerning MIDI stuff. Can anybody please tell me how I can sync the SY-300 (sequenced sounds) to the rhythms of my DR-880? I saw videos which showed that it works fine but which parameters do I have to set where?
It would be GREAT if someone could tell me!
Thanks
Stephan

BTW: I don't use GK so how should I know

Connect the midi out from your DR-880 to the MIDI input of the SY-300.  On the SY-300 set the SYSTEM/MIDI/Clock-sync to Auto or MIDI.  On the DR-880 set the Sync mode to internal.  This will make the DR-880 the master and the SY-300 the slave.

You can also go the other way if you like.

Thanks a lot, Elliot. Wow,now it is real fun!
But one question: When changing rhythms the sound of the SY-300 is also altered. I guess there is another parameter to be changed.
Thanks again!

Can you be more specific?  Is the patch on the SY-300 changing when you change the rhythm on the DR-880?

Exactly. Changing a rhythm on the DR 880 changes the patch on the SY-300. How can I stopp that? I just want to keep both deviceses timing synced.

If you send MIDI Program Change Commands to the SY-300, it will change patches

Might require a third party MIDI Filter device between DR-880 MIDI Out and SY-300 MIDI Input

Try setting the 2 devices to different midi channels. The program change message includes a midi channel number.  Program change should only be acted on by a device with the same channel number.

The timesync messages do not have a midi ch number. Sync will continue to work.

Hi Elliot,
I set up the Device IDs to different numbers and now everything works great. I can change rhythms and sound patch completely independently.
Thank you guys for your quick help and especially Elliot who solved my problem!!
