Quote from: JCW308, post: 26311327, member: 80763Can someone please post a shot of the "Switch Overview" screen on the GT-1000? Thank you!
See page 4 of the GT-1000 OM which explains the GT-1000 "Play Screens" - use the < Page > controls to toggle the current LCD Display

AFAIK - the "Switch Overview" screen is same as:
"Show functions assigned to main unit and external switches" above

Mute the audio in video above,  and watch as all GT-1000 LCD screens are revealed

I expect an early review to occur here

PAH's explanation of GT-1000 operations appear to solve my hurdles
https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?posts/26335068/

Look at the parameter guide (https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/GT-1000_parameter_eng02_W.pdf). Control functions on page 26, and assign settings on pg 27. For people new to Boss, the difference might not be obvious. Think of control functions as one setting for each specific switch. And think of assign settings as 16 generic settings where each one can be used with any switch or expression pedal to control just about any parameter.

If you're the type of person that picks a patch and then just wants to toggle individual things on and off, use the control functions and assigns to map footswitches 1 to 5 to toggle effects, tap tempo, turn on/off the tuner, whatever. If you leave Bank up/down as is, when you hit one of them 1 to 5 will temporarily revert back to patch select (flashing LEDs) until you press one of 1 to 5, at which point 1 to 5 will become whatever the newly selected patch has them configured as. Alternatively, you could change bank up/down to patch up/down to just directly go to the next/previous patch. Or you could even set bank up/down as with some other control function and assigns to do whatever, and just use a knob for changing patches. Whatever works best for YOU.

If you're the type that uses different patches for each different sound in a song, then leave 1 to 5 as patch selects and let the patches do the work.

If you want a hybrid, you could let 1 to 3 be patch selects and use control functions and assigns to make 4 and 5 do whatever.

Or some other combo. Again, whatever works for YOU, and it can be different on each patch if you want it to be.

It's different, not missing. Is it better or worse? I think it's better, but I would like to see a few more options for assign targets, and some double functions (e.g. tap temp/hold for tuner).

------

If you reasign the bottom row of 5 switches to be stomp FX on/off - just press BOTH bank Up and Bank Down ( upper row left 2 foot switches) at same time

now the bottom Row will revert to patch 1 thru 5 for the current bank

I use the Pages buttons and tend to stay on this LCD screen at gigs  - and memorize which patch is on which of the 5 lower foot switches  for the current bank

Setting volume, BPM, key, amplifier channel switch for each patch

I will go into consideration from here. First of all, it is a series of effect type, but COMPRESSOR, DISTORTION 1, 2, AIRD PREAMP 1, 2, NOISE SUPPRESSOR 1, 2, EQUALIZER 1 - 4, DELAY 1 - 4, MASTER DELAY, CHORUS, REVERB, FX 1 - FX 3 , FOOT VOLUME, DIVIDER 1 - 3, MIXER 1 - 3, SEND / RETURN 1, 2, MAIN OUT L, MAIN OUT R, SUB OUT L, SUB OUT R, MASTER. Is there a form?

The effect chain inside the pedal will use these effect blocks collectively. In other words, you can create three branches / joins in one preset, and set presets like two amp models, two noise suppressors, two distortions ....

And when you look at the type included in AIRD PREAMP again ...

TRANSPARENT / Amplifier suitable for flat and akogi
NATURAL / Honest clean that held down the habit of the amplifier
BOUTIQUE / Crunch reproducing faithful picking nuance
Utilizing the texture of SUPREME / 4 × 12 inches cabin, crunch with high picking response
MAXIMUM / Vintage Marshall sound as it is high gain
JUGGERNAUT / Pursue ultimate metal sound
X-CRUNCH / MDP crunch sound
X-HI GAIN / MDP high gain
X-MODDED / MDP Core sound that does not lose the outline of sound even if the gain is excessive
The advanced model so far

JC-120 / Roland JC-120
TWIN COMBO / Fender Twin Reverb
DELUXE COMBO / Fender Deluxe Reverb
TWEED COMBO / Fender Bassman 4 × 10
DIAMOND AMP / VOX AC 30
BRIT STACK / Marshall 1959
RECTI STACK / Mesa / Boogie Dual Rectifiler Ch.2 Modern MODE
These are classic models.

The classic model is so-called modeling, and the advanced model is GT-1000 original amp model.

Modeling is JC - 120 and Fender, Marshall, AC 30, lecture. You know if you are a guitarist right now. Although it is certainly only good amps in classic, it is said that it is one generation old by itself.

BOSS  But now Line 6 Helix  And Axe-Fx , Kemper  There is no reason not to know. In other words, it seems to be understood that the amp model which is included in the new product now may feel less than this. After understanding, it means that only this modeling is recorded.

That is, it is not an advanced class model but an advanced model for the GT - 1000.

There is a dilemma in digital. The amp model which is now has surprisingly high quality, it is so far from real to tell. However, modeling and profiling never go beyond the "absolutely" original.

It is not a matter of tone quality or function. It is impossible to become "real" as long as "resembles" to "genuine". No matter how much you develop technology, there is absolutely no way to go over it.

This time BOSS is GT - 1000, I think that I challenged there.

Although the AIRD amp model recorded as an advanced model has only one Marshall system, it is basically an original amp model. Although this is probably, it is an amp model that is not a model that produces original sounds because it is originally original, but is a "guitar amp-like" "good sound". Depending on the setting you can also resemble various amp sounds.

However, this is an original amp model unique to digital. In other words, the GT - 1000 was created in search of being chosen as "real sound". This is different from the original modeling multi, and even the one and only one that resembles the original in the form of profiling, the stage is different.

So whatever it is, all the sounds that can be used will be all. of course. Rather it certainly makes sense that it would be easier to understand who had reproduced the sound of that high-quality amp. Besides, this is just a thought, and I do not really know what BOSS thought.

And · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · However, I would like to expect this direction personally. What is the possibility of the digital that the GT - 1000 shows, what is nothing to say unless it is released and touched, but ... I thought that this might be interesting, I thought for a moment .

It is a bit interesting that the tuner is polyphonic compliant w

By the way, each effect block, there are a lot of parameters. I think that this neighborhood is thinking more than Axe-Fx. MIDI function is also amazing. ES-8  Although it is a style similar to, it can be set considerably finely. I think that it is the nature of Roland that is related to the MIDI standard itself.

BOSS GT-1000 impedance MOD

iWe requested the BOSS GT - 1000 of the new Bari Bali impedance MOD.

The impression you played in normal condition is the impression that the texture of the amp modeling gets better, the

latency is not felt and you can play without stress.

Is it because

output select is excellent because it is easy to make sound even if it is used in line or in amplifier return ?

The impedance MOD applied part is INPUT · RETURN 1 · RETURN 2 3 places.

If you use it alone, the impedance of RETURN is not so much a problem,

but considerably harmful comes out when putting an effector in 4 cable method or SEND / RETURN.

The stabilizer used in the test after impedance MOD is SSPH - HG2. FRACTAL AX 8 impedance MOD we introduced the other day was also a good combination. Sound combining impedance MOD + SSPH - HG 2 is a sound that tension rises already! While sending a preset! And it seems that if you find a sound that you like, it says that control will be what you want. The GT - 1000 will respond to it if you think that you want to produce such a sound. It is nuance rather than sound. Picking, touching, guitar volume and tone manipulation, this alone can be expressed as desired. It can be played all the time. It is such a sound.

P1060273.jpg

P1060271.jpg

Neither FRACTAL nor KEMPER this GT - 1000 is normal and it is really well done.

This is no mistake.

However, rather than inputting and using a weak guitar signal as it is before INPUT, it is a great equipment that will respond to it if

you send the guitar's signal with high density and high resolution with SSPH - HG2 etc etc. It is the difference that you can say that it is a waste is really being used in normal condition. The stabilizer you want to use in combination with these will have only SSPH - HG 2 or PHC - VIC 30 V with 30 V operation and overwhelming dynamic range . However, the GT - 1000 may have played a major breakthrough as a technology. Before playing, I was surprised at the price of 100,000 over but I was satisfied, I thought that it was the era when this kind of equipment was available at 100,000 yen. Custom-made item "Variable Impedance Preamp"
The 30V type is also released and the most popular among the stabilizer series " PHC - VIC "

http://www.evaemis.com/62vic.html

Based on this model, this custom - made item is a model that raised the upper limit of the input impedance value from a maximum of 1 MΩ to a maximum of 8 MΩ. Many of the piezo pickup outputs have very high impedance, they were made to correspond to it. The input impedance switching has a range width of 3 stages with a mini switch. Select the range width with 2 MΩ width unit by switching on the right side of the mini switch. Impedance can be steplessly adjusted by the knob in the selected range. · 100 kΩ ~ 2 MΩ · 2 MΩ ~ 4 MΩ · 6 MΩ ~ 8 MΩ Mini switch The left side is the switching of the passing range. · MID middle low range shift towards the range shift · NOR normal · LOW from the low range To the eleaco and the wood base etc equipped with the range shifted piezo, we feel a sense of torn somewhat by shifting the center of gravity to the low range. The knob left side "H / A GAIN" boosts the input signal up to 10 db. Correct the gain of piezo pickup with weak output. For example, it is possible to balance the magnet pickup with a high output when using both the magnet pickup and both . As for the power supply of the main body, by inputting the external DC 9V to 18V in addition to the battery
phc-vic 30v

P1060250.jpg

P1060250_1.jpg

P1060250_2.jpg

It is a new circuit which stabilizes boost to internal 30V.

With the overwhelming dynamic range and wide impedance adjustment,

you can maximize the capabilities of delicate piezo pickups.

The impedance range of this time is the range

adapted to the characteristics of the owner's pickup.

It is also possible to adjust the upper range more.

Since there is a limit on the adjustment width of the pot, it becomes stepless adjustment with 2 MΩ unit width.

It is also possible to make the case size small unless the battery is built in.

Majiken

Unfortunately I don't own any of the compared gear, but the screen readability in broad daylight has always been an issue, especially for the tuner and at least preset number/name.  I can't remember how often I have to improvise some kind of shade for the display, thinking about divising an easily removable DIY fix for each unit I use.

I think I could get along well with a Helix if I were looking for a device right now, but the lack of display in sunlight is very discouraging.
Take what you need, put back a bit more, leave the place behind you better than it was before :-)

www.majiken.rocks

Elantric

I know if you have a helix there's a helix Facebook group run by Chad Boston who also sells a small Sun deflector shade to Aid LCD viewing for the Helix

probably could be adapted to the Headrush as well.

Myself,  I usually use a shoebox duck tape and  improvise a shade ( buts that presents other hurdles if outdoors and  Sun is at Noon and directly overhead)

But it's good to see with  the GT-1000 I no longer need to resort to any improvisational shade Gizmo to view the LCD display day or night on any stage it's very visible

Whether you're a MIDI-meister or amongst the MIDI-mindless, the MIDI Mongoose is a super simple way to control your gear on stage, in the studio, and on DJ decks for sound and lighting, too. Tech 21's intuitive engineering eliminates the intimidation of trying to decipher an encyclopedia-sized manual just so you can change a darn program.

The MIDI Mongoose is the next generation of its predecessor, the MIDI Moose. It has a significantly smaller footprint and additional capabilities. There are 2 independent inputs for continuous controllers to facilitate use with your other MIDI equipment, as well as a 7-pin phantom power jack. With just 5 footswitches, you can change groupings of preset programs by five or ten at a clip. You can also access Special Page functions to set MIDI channel numbers and to set continuous controller channel numbers and calibration.

Tech 21 Midi Mongoose Features:
Three modes of operation:
Standard 9V alkaline battery (not included) provides a minimum of 200 hours usage
Optional power supply (Tech 21 Model #DC4)
Phantom power via the MIDI cable
Access 128 patches on any of the 16 selectable MIDI channels
Smooth-action custom actuators
All-metal housing
Large, non-glare LED display can be read from any angle, in daylight or darkness
Probably the world's smallest manuals for any MIDI product
Size: 11.5"L x 2.5"W x 1.25"H

FS-5U EXTERNAL FS CONTROL POLARITY SETTING

Tags: FS-5U External FS Control Polarity Setting

If using an FS-5U connected to the RC-1 make sure to set the POLARITY switch direction toward the cable jack for proper FS functionality.

If set improperly (away from cable jack), upon pressing FS to STOP, the LOOPER will STOP but the LOOP will be ERASED!

The POLARITY will also be important when controlling the RC-1 from CTL/CONTROL OUTPUT of a BOSS EFFECTS SWITCHER like the ES-5, ES-8 and MS-3 or a MULTI EFFECT like the GT-1, GT-100, GT-1000, etc.

(They describe the FS-5U polarity switch as the  "Normally Closed" position in the pic below)

New BOSS GT-1000 Guitar Effects Processor

A little PSA:

If you are using the GT-1000 as a preamp into a tube power section with guitar cabs, you can disable the AIRD output algorithms by selecting the "Recording" option in your output settings,

then turning the mic output all the way down and the direct output all the way up. I used the "boutique" preamp into the return of my Boogie hardwood Mk3+ combo and it was heavenly. The ground lift settings are awesome, too. Fixed a ground loop hum in seconds.

I think I am getting a handle on the AIRD paradigm and why Boss didn't use IRs at initial release. The AIRD tech is a separate modeling algorithm that dovetails into the preamps and emulates how a power section and speakers affect a preamp signal over time, and with varying frequency and impedance curves. It's not a static filter, it's reactive. I think they announced IR support once they realized it is what their customers are comfortable with and have come to expect. They didn't do a good job of explaining why they developed AIRD instead of using the standard IR output filters.

Steve Jobs pulled off removing floppy drives even though everybody lost their **** when he did it. I don't think Roland has the marketing wizardry to do the same thing, so it's good they are going to support IRs, even if they think they have a better mouse trap.

@Elantric, how are the GT FX compared to the Helix FX? I have been toying with the idea of a HX FX but the GT-1000 interests me also (price point isn't that different) as it reportedly includes some of the new Boss pedals inside.

My HX effects is VERY PICKY on its power supply ( will have more HISS if wrong supply used ), and I found its "Bypass mode" to be Tone suck - regardless of "TRUE BYPASS mode being on or off.

at this hour I really prefer the GT-1000 effects vs the Line-6 HX Effects ( or Helix for that matter - yes I have all three to compare)

Hopefully "Boss Tone Studio for GT-1000 (Win/Mac) will be released

It can run in "OFFLINE" mode - and Anybody pre-purchase can peruse ALL available GT-1000 Effects, and Parameter Controls

Until then - READ and study the GT-1000 Parameter Guide (PDF) pages 5-23

I hate that the cab settings are with the outputs. It means it is a very poor solution for integrating with sounds that should not have a cab simulation - I know this was one of the dealbreakers for @JiveTurkey. So integrating synths and such is going to require using a separate mixer if you also want to use amp models.

I don't understand why having the cabinet settings with the output is a problem. If you don't want a cabinet emulated, set your main (or sub) output select to "recording", then set your main (or sub) speaker type to "Off." That gets you line out with no cabinet emulation.

Kosmacz31

So, using the 1-Cable method to connect GT-1000 to the Tube-Stack (to Loop-Return, using AIRD preamps) it would be also recommended to switch AIRD Outputs to recording nad SP type to off? Then no speakers are emulated?

Use your ears and set thing how they sound best to you

Some folks get upset if they cant disable internal Cab modeling on the DSP MFX, (GT-1000)  when feeding the  FX return jack on their Tube Guitar Amp  ( with genuine Guitar speaker)

all depends on the individual in my opinion - no hard & fast rule - and often "predictable outcome  to avoid" ( as stated on forums) get thrown out the window for some rigs

If your amp has those new Celestion Neo speakers , Id probably maintain my MFX Cab Sim "ON"  - to tame the brittle harsh high end of those "ice pick in the ear" NEO speakers

Does AIRD only work if you use the built in cabs of the GT?

PAH wrote>

At NAMM, Boss was describing it as technology that modeled the interactions between speaker, power amp, and preamp, and that it worked with the internal cabs and external power amps and cabs. That is part of the reason they have so many specific amp types as options in the "output select" parameter. It allows them to tune the modeling to the device that is being driven by the outputs. They have also announced that later this month they'll be releasing "GT-1000 AIRD Output Select Library software (Mac/Windows)" which will presumably either have even more specific amps or allow the user to dial in parameters for their amp, which are then loaded into the "user" output select locations. There are two user output select locations, so you can have different user loaded options for the main 1/4" outputs and the XLR sub-outputs.

Sorry, one other quick question. The GT-1000 User Manual is a bit confusing in regards to the Line vs Recording Output Selection. On page 25, it implies that the ability to change/select mics and their positioning is not available if Output Select = Recording. Why would that be the case...since setting it to Recording allows one to switch and swap cabinet models. If you can switch and swap cabinet models, why wouldn't one also be able to fool around with the different mic settings??

PAH wrote>
Yes, you can set the main outs to recording if the main out is connected to an FRFR.

That is a misprint in the manual.

Line/Phones = "Original" cabinet, but you still have control over the mic and mic placement.
Recording = You have control over the cabinet, the mic and the mic placement.
Any amp input or return = cabinet/mic modeling is disabled, and some other EQ and/or AIRD model tweaking is done to compensate for what you are said you are connected to.

A related thing I have discovered that doesn't seem to be documented: If the path from input to output doesn't go through an amp block that is enabled, no cabinet model will be applied to the output. Or said another way, if the signal passes through an enabled amp the cabinet settings are applied, but if the amp blocks are disabled and/or the signal is routed around the amp block with dividers, the cabinet settings are not applied. This can be useful, because you can't assign the cabinet type to a foot switch to turn the cab off, but you can assign amp on/off or a divider channel select to a footswitch.

USB audio flow
GT-1000 provides three USB audio outputs: "MAIN", "SUB" and "DRY."

MAIN outputs the effect sound from MAIN OUT; the return from the computer is mixed with the guitar's performance at the final stage of MAIN OUT.

SUB outputs the effect sound from SUB OUT; the return from the computer is mixed with the guitar's performance at the final stage of SUB OUT.

DRY always outputs the dry sound regardless of the GT-1000 unit's settings; the return from the computer is always returned to the beginning of the effect chain.

Since the GT-1000 is outputting to the computer from each of MAIN, SUB, and DRY, you can provide three tracks for guitar and simultaneously record the dry sound, the effect sound from MAIN OUT, and the effect sound from SUB OUT.

If you are not satisfied with the effect sound from MAIN OUT or SUB OUT, you can play back the dry sound that was simultaneously recorded from

Audio Playback/Recording devices (Windows)
Of the total audio input/output channels provided by the GT-1000, there are 6 INs and 6 OUTs
You can use the Playback/Recording devices shown below.

I have a question to the GT-1000 owners. With respect to the AIRD models, do we know what they are modelled after? Specifically, do we know the real amps that they are supposed to imitate?

PAH wrote>
Thanks in advance.
I would say the AIRD amps do not model any existing real amps. They are just Boss made up, "idealized" amps that cover a broad spectrum of different types of amp distortion characters. In fact, the 3 "X" amps are using MDP technology, which would be kind of like designing a tube amp that splits the guitar signal into a bunch of frequency bands, and runs each band through its own gain stages, then mixes it back together. If you designed a tube amp to do that, you'd probably have to have a dozen or more preamps for the different frequency bands, so it would cost about as much as a tropical island and weigh about 2.5 metric tons.

Quote from: gergophonic, post: 26523441, member: 202586Is it safe to say that the GT1000 has a basic polyphonic freeze? If I'm understanding correctly, that's the Terra Echo trigger, but I haven't actually tried the Terra Echo pedal.

I was considering the Superego+, with the larger GT expense some time down the road. For my occasional simple freeze use, I might skip the Superego and put that money toward the GT. I'd give up some freeze layering, but the GT obviously offers much more in other effects and routing features.

Thanks for all the good info and demos.
