Update:

OMG.

I tried this one this morning:
QuoteSpeaking of feedback, I recall many advanced signal routing discussions specific to the VG-99 (on other since discontinued forums) , where we talked about using an external 1/4" cable, and taking the VG-99's "A Chain"  Output, and sending this back into the VG-99's 1/4" "Normal Guitar Input, and "parallel process" using the VG-99's "B Chain".

Results:
You seriously have to hear it to believe it.  You don't even need a guitar attached because the self-oscillation from the 99 is producing sounds that I've never heard out of the 99, any guitar or any synth.  I had to reduce the volume considerably on my studio monitors or I would have blown a tweeter.  We almost need a thread just for this.

The audible result makes it the perfect device to scare your neighborhood kids on halloween.   I recorded it, I just need to edit the recording to manageable length.  Some of it sounds like satellite telemetry, some of it sounds like a atmospheric tunnel in a vacuum and other bits sounds like the antimatter engine from a lost in space episode.  Seriously strange and not what you expect when you think 'guitar'.  Some of my patches that make "known" sounds with this make totally strange sounds I've never heard before in my life.

I did try modifying the shimmer patch to go into B and it did create an interesting variation on the sound, more on that later.  My irrational fear was routing one channel to the audio input would reduce the sound to a dual mono signal but if you're monitoring via USB you don't have that problem.  Interesting.   And then there's the possibility of taking that external cable and routing that to an external bank of effects and then routing it into the quarter inch standard guitar in for even further insanity.

We almost need a patch section now that spotlights patches where you need to use an external cable.

Very Impressive results!!

Its time to give the VG-99 screen credits on your next soundtrack

I definitely know what to do when I need wild sound effects.  Some of the results were so high pitched my 53 year old hearing could barely hear them.  Some of them were so low pitched it was like a 6-string bass detuned massively.

There was one that had a strange sine wave sound with weird pulsing in the background.

Lots and lots of insane shrieking I edited out of the example.

Remember this?  I've been thinking about this again and I realize now why it didn't work then but might now.  Don't worry!

Seems like you've removed the track on Soundcloud. Do you still have the sample somewhere? I'd love to hear it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing last night!  :) Would love to hear it.

Let's try that again.

The level on that was so oppressive I just pulled it down.
I've remastered it for safer listening.
But still, there are some very loud transients in this so keep the level down or you might blow a tweeter.

This is basically a programming session - I'd listen to something, change a setting, move on.  There are silent sections where I'm adjusting and then moving on.  It's just recording the whole thing.  Sometimes a guitar wasn't even a factor in the process but sometimes was.

Definitely som cat chasing moments there. Both of mine suddenly decided it was time for a trip outside.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

I thought of something interesting to try with this again.  Let me see if I can make it work.
