How does this work? Can you plug a normal electric guitar 1/4" in and get the full 13 pin out?
No, you only get access to COSM effects, amps and regular stuff. No MIDI or alt tuning, No 13-pin processing without hex pickup.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Seems kind of pointless when you can just plug in a quarter inch cable into the guitar in on the GP-10

On man's pointless box is another man's godsend . . .

1 ) GR-55 Users may want  / need this  - as the GR-55 does not have a 1/4" Guitar input.

2 ) get educated  What is a subsonic filter for GK 13 pin processor used for?

I wonder how good/bad it would work if you took a 1/4" jack and ran the one signal to all six string signals on a 13 pin connector and only played one string at a time (which I assume is easier to do on violin than guitar)?

there are band pass filter for each string's DSP modeling which restricts the musical range

DIY your own here

Build a 1/4" Guitar Input > GK 13 pin out adapter cable

Dany_Lane

It based on that
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?topic=4734.msg32047#msg32047

It triggers the 3rd pin by any string I Play.
So it's monophonic, but you can use all 4 outs to create intervals like harmonizer - 2 for PCM instruments and 2 for MODEL and NORMAL

Hi,
I've been asked about the Graphtech ghost tune-o-matic with the graphtech hexpander,  does it have a subsonic filter similar to newest RMC boards on Godin's ?
I.e. will this pickup benefit from an external filter GKFX-1 or OPT-1 for the GR-55 ?
Anyone knows?

And for the GP-10 I assume it does not help, right?

But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

in my experience the Graph-Tech Ghost electronics are the noisiest  - not in the same league as RMC or even Roland

No subsonic filter

the GP-10 is the exception - GP-10 has much better built in sub-sonic filters (in DSP) to deal with Piezo saddles

adding a third party sub sonic filter yields smaller benefits to tame mis triggering on GP-10

While the older VG-8 / VG-88 / VG-99 / GR-55 - all benefit substantially from an external in line subsonic filter

Does anyone know if these GKFX1 units are still available for sale by Primova?  Or anywhere else?  I fired off an inquiry email to Primova Sound but i am worried when i see their site has not been updated since May 2018.

Thanks!

New batch soon ready for assembly. Just have to evaluate a new two-component water based epoxy clear coat.
The two-component car paint previously used contain a solvent that is incompatible with the underlaying gel print.
This has previously been a major problem to me as the painting process has been very tedious, error prone and costly.
I really hope this new paint works well.

Yeah, yeah I'm here...No worries. Take it easy. I'll always try to respond in due time.

Problem is I try to work daytime, develop new stuff, build and ship old stuff and have a life at the same time.  Occasionally I even play the guitar 8)

Is there any before-and-after video out there that demonstrates live how the GKFX-1 solves the ghost issue?

Similar to the video below with the OPT-1 filter?

Thanks,

Peter

Not to my knowledge. Can't make one myself because my only RMC Piezo equipped guitar (Godin xtSA) is from 2015 and has the newest RMC boards with in-built filter.

An additional filter will not make noticeable further improvement on guitars with latest RMC boards (most Godins newer than 2011/2012).

In these cases you must instead spend more time tweaking GR-55 GK Settings (something that needs to be done anyways even with a filter).

A filter is not solving a poorly setup GR-55 or a poorly setup guitar (fret noise etc.). It does not even fix bad or sloppy playing  ;)

But, if you have a Piezo guitar without in-built filter a GKFX or OPT-1 will improve the situation.
Both filters share the same specification.

My supplier doing milling and printing has finally been able to print a new batch of GKFX-1 enclosures.
This means I can now start to assemble new units. It's been a long wait.

Are the GKFX-1 filters now available? I'm interested in getting one. I use a Godin LGXT guitar with the RMC hex pickup system and ghost notes on certain GR-55 patches drive me crazy. Thank you!

Aloha Mark, sure I have 20+ units.

Note: Filter does not help with latest RMC boards newer than 2011-2012 (has in-built filter)
Check production year from Godin serial number here:

$175 incl shipping and short GK cable.
If still interested email me at sound@primova.se for PayPal info.

Just made another "special edition" of the GKFX-1 for 5-String Fourness Fuse 13-pin electric violins.
https://fournessviolins.com/fourness-fuse-violin/

After a bit of research the string and filter cut-off layout is the same as for Cantini violins I did earlier some years ago.
http://www.cantinielectricviolins.com/

STR1   E5 - 660 Hz
STR2   A4 - 440 Hz
STR3   D4 - 293.33 Hz
STR4   G3 - 195.56 Hz
STR5   C3 - 130.37 Hz
(STR6   F2– 87.31 Hz)

The filter was re-design with different cut-off frequencies and the frequency plot looks like this:

I hope it will do the job with the Fourness Fuse.

The Cantini violinist was happy with the improvement using a filter for his violin.
I've heard sound samples and the difference is very noticeable with tracking on GR-55.

From Len, with a Fourness Fuse 13-pin electric violin.
Thanks for the pics and grateful my gear is making a little bit of difference.

As far as I understand, the layout is embedded within the ISSP board of Cantini Violins already?

You may put the GR-55 in tuner mode to see how the physical violin strings are mapped to STR1-STR6.
Yes, seems like the layout is fixed by the violin hardware.

Thus, I presume GKFX-1 filter wouldn't change or filter out any extra noise.
