I noticed from the manual that the GR-30 PSI is 9v  - Does this mean it will power up ok using a pedal board power supply or will it need the dedicated roland PSU ?

The GR-30 draws 440mA , so be mindful of the total current load on your power supply, and the current draw of your other effects.

You should be OK with the one you linked above - - but which looper  are you considering?

ok - should be ok then it says its 2000 total  - 500 per cable  & I only need to run the two things which will only be about a third of the total loading - I was more worried that there may be something unique to the roland PSU to watch out for

the 1996 GR-300 was created back when efficient "switching" power supplies cost more money  - thus the warning not to use the old Boss ACA /PSA supplies - as those lacked the higher current of today's supplies.

So it's 9 volt DC output, just check the polarity connected to the ground on the GR-30 output jacks and the looper if running both from a common supply
(negative ground vs positive ground)

GR-30 DC input jack is Negative Centre (tip) Positive outer (sleeve)..
My original (240 volt here) power supply unit was ACF-240A  ..500mA
