Make sure your USB MIDI LEADS ARE SHIELDED AND CHOKED!

Both 5-pin MIDI and USB use differential signaling with voltage swings at roughly the same order-of-magnitude, so it's a little hard to understand how a crosstalk situation like this can occur.  Let us know if the new USB cable solves the problem!

This is of great interest to me, since I'm in the final phases of cabling up my new EFX rack (has 5-pin MIDI and USB laced together in a similar manner).

Any digital cable should be shielded anyway,
the more you can stop noise radiating from the source, the better the noise levels all round.
