So playing with this Godin guitar into the SY-1000 recently and suddenly the presets started flipping around randomly and sporadically.

Unplug the 13-pin cable -- it stops. I think it's a cable problem so test another but same issue. I deactivate the S1/S2 preset inc/dec function and the issue disappears. Test with VG-99...the patches spiral at an incredible speed until you unplug the cable. Same thing, deactivate the switching for S1/S2 and the unit return to normal.

Blasted with deoxit just in case but no effect.

I opened the cavities on the guitar to see what I could see but it's pretty inaccessible in there.

Any ideas on what this might be? I see the S1/S2 switches have some relation to pin 10 and 11 of the 13-pin system but it stops there for me. I like using the inc/dec switches on the guitar...otherwise I'd just leave them deactivated.

Oh, and for joy, I accidentally ripped a cable out from the 9V battery compartment on the way in  :P

One your switches (S1/S2) is stuck on, maybe you might have a multi-meter/ohms meter to test the switch/button.
It closes on activation if no GK plug is present.

If a GK cable is connected and powered, there should be about 5~7 volts between pins 10 & 11 to ground, and 0 volts when the S1/S2 is activated.

Thanks Gumtown,
I don't have a multimeter (but I should). I'll have a poke around in the slider/switch cavity and see if anything is visually amiss until I can get my hands on one. Cheers.

You know, just pulling the board with the faders and S1/S2 switches out and unplugging and replugging a few bits seemed to fix it. Yay!

...glad you didn't have to reboot the whole neighbourhood, but probably time to get a multimeter anyway... ;)
