The new version of our forum software, SMF 2.1, also introduces realtime alert capability.

If you have configured your notifications to allow them, you will receive an alert when posts are made to topics you are following, when you have been quoted, and when you have been mentioned.

If your browser supports alerts, it may prompt you whether you wish to allow VGuitarForums to send you alerts.  If you allow it, you will also get a brief popup on your browser, e.g., if you are on another site on another tab.

It's all under your control...

You may want to review your notification settings.  To do so, click on your profile menu at the upper left (where your name is) & select Notifications.  There you can select which items you want to see real-time vs by email (or not at all!).

I noticed when I posted an mp3 clip, it was available as a file down load as usual. Somehow it was also there with a play bar so it could be played without downloading. I did that somehow by accident but when I tried again I could not get that sound bar.

How is that done?

If you post a link to an mp3, to a location that has a full URL (starts with https://) and ends with .mp3, the soundbar will be auto-inserted.

E.g.: https://localhost/80vgf21/index.php?msg=257369

I posted a sound clip on reply#157. The file loaded as both a down load and a sound bar without a ULR link to that clip.

Ah, gotcha.

You'll see that there's a dividing line near the bottom.  *ALL* attachments are shown at the bottom, below that line, including a thumbnail depending on the file type.

If you wish to include the attachment within the body of your post, above the line, you can click on the INSERT button on the attachment upload form.  You can type text above or below the inserted attachment; it is part of the post.  (E.g., if you want to insert photos throughout a "how-to" post...)

You get the soundbar if you do an INSERT for an mp3 attachment as well!

Ever since the last Forum update, If I go to page 3 of new posts, I get a screen error.
I think it's just on my IPad, but not sure
I miss a whole page of posts when this happens

I'm not seeing this - even on my iPad.  A screenshot/error message would help!
Address the process rather than the outcome.  Then, the outcome becomes more likely.   - Fripp

So, been here a little bit, was wondering what happened to the vote scoreboard? Downvoat , upvoat, call a member a hero or a scumbag, WTF?

SMF, which develops the (free...) software we use, removed the old "karma" feature, which allowed upvotes & downvotes.

Note I removed some of your prior post.  We do try to keep the forum family friendly, and you crossed that line a bit.

As an admin, the +/- karma count was a waste of time.  The collective newbies often attacked and downvoted  folks with the best ideas on GK13 misunderstood technology- only because it conflicted with a personal belief system

Like downvoting and adding negative karma to anyone who claimed the GK-3 pickup was Not a MIDI pickup ( yes that occurred)

I never really liked the Karma rating either, especially when some were unjustly downrated below "0",
it would make that member's valued opinion seem unworthy, so I would at times boost those who were in negative values back up to 0.

Whether or not you are automatically subscribed depends on your notification settings in your profile.  This can be found under your profile menu (top left) & select Notifications.  Or follow this link:
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;area=notification

If you want email alerts, that very first box, to receive newsletters, etc., MUST be checked.

Also note that your alert settings for a specific board or topic may look different depending on whether you are using your smartphone vs desktop, etc.  On your phone it is an entry under "User Actions" near the top & bottom of each page.
