I got a notification that somone requested a password change for my account. I have not logged in here for some time, and they failed to change my password. Probably just doorknob twisting. the attack came from xs4all.nl

Just a heads up to the admins, some fishy activity is going on.

I have changed my password and suggest that you all do as well.

Its good that the notification system worked. If Microsoft had that system in place when a pfishing scheme to try to gain access to Email accout, the hacker would not have succeeded.

I fell for it. I got an email from a hacker pretending to be a Microsoft tech asking to verify the number they had just sent me via text. I sent them the number but it had already expired.

They asked again and this I got it to them before the number expired.

I woke up that night and realized what happened and a quick check of my email account  showed that they had succeeded and I was locked out.

So the hacker tried to reset my password knowing I would be sent a text with a reset number. They simply had to ask for that number.

I  felt violated and my friends all got email notices to send money because I needed help to get out of a jail in Zimbabwe.

They knew better of course. I never got my account back but it was locked.
