This system looks promising for Les Paul users that want a reliable tremolo but do not want to hack into their guitar.:

It looks pretty neat. Not for full dive bombs perhaps but should be fine for anything else. Anyone tried one?

This is the trem that I'm using for a guitar designed for another member of this group!  It was slated to be complete in January but February looks more realistic right now....I'll surely keep you all updated with some photos and I'll try to remember to update this thread in particular.

Mine remains waiting for me to install it on a Les paul project guitar I'm working  - due 2011!
A video of how to install the Stetsbar is here:

wonder if this would work replacing a floyd rose on a bc rich.

Elantric and Vance, hopefully you can give us your impressions on this unit. It looks like a good design, especially since you don't have to cut into your Paul.

I'm especially interested in how well it stays in tune and wether it affects the tone.

The stetsbar is very unique , because the actual Bridge moves in synchronization with the tailpiece when you move the Trem Arm - so it tends to stay in tune much better than competing systems. As always - locking tuners, and a very good lubricated nut are mandatory to keeping whammy bars in tune. I tend to favor Graphtech Nuts.

But as far as tone impact, I feel ANY trem arm will impact your tone/sustain compared to simply having a stock Les Paul - but its the price to pay for having a whammy!.

The good news is the Stetsbar installation is totally reversible, and allows you to move your investment in the Stetsbar from guitar to guitar.

Thanks for the insight Elantric. I'm going to give one a try one of my Pauls! Love the fact that it's reversible.

Got me thinking the same thing.....one on my LP std  ;D ;D  brilliant...thanks E
Anyone already done this ?
Q... What kind of advice can you give me ?   Tommy Emmanuel's reply ....

You move your hand Up and Down that long bit and the music comes out of that Big Black Box behind you !!

Can you just use your own 'Nut'  ;D  meaning...
If I put one on a LP Standard, will this original nut be OK or need to change this to Graph Tech as such ?

Curious.....Cheers

Lubricate your existing Nut with Big Bends Nut Sauce - or Dry flakes of Ivory Soap.

Is there really a guitar product called big bends nut sauce, or are you hoping I will google it  at work and get fired? :)

Elantric-fgn

of course there is - I use it on many guitars

Interesting. I was going to use a Vibramate to a mount Bigsby on a recently acquired guitar, but possibly I might do this instead. (Although the Stetsbar will cost about twice the Vibramate/Bigsby combination.)

It's worth thinking about....
