PDF Manual for a Valuable tool for hyper accurate tuning, intonation, and alternate tuning exploration - with "sweetened" tunings.

Pretty much what I would hope the forthcoming Onboard Tuner will achieve.

Simon this is your Air-DF-Tuner... Load on to your PC, pull up your Air-PCK, gently strum your Air-Strings and watch your Air-tuners move... Have fun!  :P :P :P

:D

Seriously though, as I see it, on top of the existing DARK fIRE tuning options,
there should be two new Single String Tuning Modes available:-

1.select string and dial  in the required note (Chromatic) using the MCK LED's or the Display Matrix.Pluck string and Green LIGHT when string in tune.

and

2.Select string and clickstream in a value from 4300 (430Hz) to 4499 (449.9Hz).

That should about cover it.

I use Peterson Strobo Flip. It's great! that's what I used to intonate the DF.

Interestingly enough, after setting the DF's tuning mode to the minimum error (0.02 c) , tuning it, then intonating with Peterson, then retuning via usual DF procedure to the standard tuning and rechecking with Peterson to confirm show perfect tuning and intonation -when I entered DF's intonation mode - on the first strum on the 12th fret, the MCK showed a ridiculous number of 1/2 turns like 8, on the second strum (same position on the fret and same pressure) it showed perfect intonation. That repeated for every string.
Go figure.....
Play on, my friend !!!

icing777,

What would happen if you intonated using the DF function and then checked it with the Peterson.  As I don't have my DF yet, forgive me if that is a stupid question.

icing777-fgn

Panrixx, I don't really know. Did not try that.
But it seems that it would yield the same result, based on the the fact that the second second strum produced a perfect tone and the led went blue as it should, indicating that the intonation is correct.
Seems that one should not jump into action at the indication after he first strum, try a few, then adjust.  Being consistent with pressure and position is the key.
Many pros say that you should intonate in the playing position to really reflect the "most commonly used" / "natural" pressure on the string when fretting.
Play on, my friend !!!

Myself -

I trust only the Peterson for intonation duties, I have always had a strobe tuner in my arsenal since 1974.

Been holding my breath now for over six months...... No problem!!  :-X

As far as I am aware, the tuner is part of the next update.
If not those I listed above , what modes do you think they are going to give us?

Icing777,
I, too, have a Peterson StroboFlip; I find it most versatile and love its compact form. It travels with me everywhere.

Elantric,
Thank you very much for your post on the Peterson StroboSoft v.2.0. The manual is far more comprehensive than that supplied with the StroboFlip, but much of it applies as well; it's most useful, thanks!

Side comment: Ahhh...and the wallet grows thinner!!! ;)

One of the reasons I went with Peterson is because I have a Gibson SG 61 reissue with a Buzz Feiten nut in it, and Peterson has a specific preset built in for it.
Play on, my friend !!!

Just came across their iPhone version ...

Has anyone used that one?

Edit - Got it anyways - $9.90 - Great deal considering the hardware tuners run about $200 and this thing apparently is almost like the hardware. More later.
