Greetings all guitar synth users!!!

I've been using a GR-55 on my strat for over ten years on stage in my 3-piece band (me, bass, drums)...
Mostly my synth provides background strings playing with either acoustic or whatever flavor electric I need at the time...

My only complaint is the dead air when I switch patches in a song!!! Why didn't they hold the last patch until the new one loaded??? aDUH!!! I know, I know it's all about the bottom line...

Question?? Anyone tackle this dead air problem on the GR-55?...
Or any recommendation options for new equipment to handle my needs?
I'm trying not to go down the rabbit hole, which is what I liked about the GR-55 and software...

Thanks Much!!!

If I remember correctly Roland has a capacitor that nukes the volume while switching patches while they feed the DSP some new stuff to chew on. Was going to change the cap value to see what happened but that never happened. Instead most people try to put in the effects and whatever stuff they need for a song in the same patch and only turn the effects on off.

I know it's impossible to live with that but that is how we GR-55'ers have to live our life's...with gaps.

In another life you run two GR-55 in parallel and switch between them. Then there's no gaps  :D
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Perhaps Samsung will come up with a photocopier that'll let us duplicate a GR55 at low cost...

GR-55 - Use all four GR-55 tone sources mixed via Expression Pedal position

Toby Krebs posted dozens of GR-55 patches he uses at his gig. Each patch uses Multiple Control Assignments for the Expression pedal to allow you to "pan" between rhythm and solo tones within each patch  - this allow you to use One GR-55 patch per song and circumvent the long mute silence gap that occurs when changing GR-55 patches during a song.
