Hi all,
I love both the ax50 & the ax100 but I miss the USB out with the 100 :(

I was using this but I'm tired of pulling out midi cables etc because its in a rack...
Everything else I'm using is just straight USB out for editing.
So my idea was maybe to install it inside the AX100, clip the midi connectors and solder the midi cables to the correct midi pins
then install a USB panel mount jack

Although this is an earlier version looks like plenty of room inside

Now the big question .....will this work or hurt anything?

The other thing was AFAIK I still have the original battery...I contacted someone awhile ago about a replacement and they said
"The 100 can be fixed with off the shelve AAA 1.5 batteries in series if needed.  Would use plastic battery holder for easy replacement.
The special batteries can be ordered but most have met their shelf life and are DOA. (My experience...may be just bad supplier)"

I thought the Ax100 battery is 2.4V so I'm assuming 2 x 1.2V rechargeable AAA batteries might work?

thanks in advance!

I did this to a Behringer FCB1010. I plugged a cheap y-cable into the usb-midi cable and cut that to get wires for soldering -to avoid ruining the usb-midi cable.  I added a  4 hub port and an NI Mobile usb audio interface

It worked pretty well.  one usb cable - got me midi and audio.
