^ New Floyd Rose Guitar with raised area on the body under the strings he calls  "Speed Ramp"  - which limits the depth the pick/plectrum enters the string area during high speed solos.

Reminds me of something I attempted back in 1976, modified my old Strat using a clear piece of trapezoid shaped 1/8" thick plastic which I glued to the top of the Strat pickguard directly under the strings between the Strat Bridge & Middle pickup to accomplish this same picking "speed ramp"!
It was a result of my self taught flawed picking  technique on a 1973 Les Paul where I would intentionally speed pick my solos by picking directly above the Bridge PAF pickup bobbin coils,  because the pick would be restricted in its downward movement, allowing faster cross string to string picking movement, and the pick would bounce off the top of the bridge pickup bobbins allowing me to play faster solos ( which after 4 years of steady gigs touring USA,  eventually destroyed the Gibson Bridge PU!
