At this hour in North America - all Amperos from the 1st batch are sold out , and despite the issues I have reported (and solved), I never see any "used" Amperos for sale

Next Batch is due later this month.   - But I figure add a few weeks

https://www.hotoneaudio.com/distributors/

(in USA - Samson(Sam Ash)  is the Distributor)

(in Canada - Korg  is the Distributor)

"on paper" the Mooer GE 200 appears comparable, but playing both side by side, the Ampero had a very satisfying tone/touch response and feel  - while the Mooer tones seemed more like playing Jamup Pro on an iPad  =OK but the Ampero sounds superior to my ears.

The 1st batch with internal ground loop noise is a relatively easy fix

Ampero on battery power (19VDC)
PilotPro 32,000 mAH Battery pack

Any notion of the range for current draw? Guessing somewhere north of 100mA, but probably closer to that 500mA at startup.

Trying to figure out an all-in-one small(ish) power supply for a gig rig ...

Its 500 mA with higher short duration inrush current demand at startup

It ships with 18VDC @ 1500mA supply

But can run on battery power with the right supply

Thanks, Steve. That's a power-hungry board! Must be the color display and non-custom DSP chip.

That 18Vdc at 500mA is more than most compact power supplies are rated for. I'll keep looking.

Need:

18Vdc @ 500mA for the "RUNS-HOT-ONE"
9Vdc @ 350mA for the GP-10
9Vdc @ 250mA for the MIDX-20
9Vdc @ 100mA for the MC6 (via the MIDX-20 USB)

Could go with two power supplies for the above, but would like to keep one of the three 120Vac outlets on the rig's power cable as a "courtesy outlet." Many a gig where someone can't get to an outlet and so plugs into the back of my rig.

You will need at least  2 battery packs

Have tested the (Choptones Patches for Ampero)  and after studying the settings it taught me:

1: Always use the PEQ because only then you have Low Cut and High cut parameters.

2: Secondly for High Gain sounds the use of IRs are obligatory! So a good IR combined with the PEQ is very effective.

3: Thirdly If you need more low mids turn open the Master of your Amp block.

Many thanks to Livio, the man behind Choptones!

QuoteRecommend a MIDI Foot controller for Ampero?

Be sure to locate a MIDI controller that can assign each foot switch to actually "toggle" MIDI CC# with each switch tap. Avoid the Cybery - because it can not "toggle" MIDI CC# with each switch tap. Most low cost MIDI controllers will require one footswitch for Ampero FX "ON", and yet another footswitch for Ampero FX "OFF", - will require FOUR separate footswitches just to control only Two Ampero FX on / off ( lame)
The Morningstar MC6 MKII provides much higher level of control and functional User Assignments options than anything else in that price range and much easier to program with its HTML5 based Editor ( compared to Damage Control)

Ampero Editor Release Note

Version 1.2.0
Released 5/31/2019

Precaution

IMPORTANT - Use V3.0 firmware with Ampero Editor V1.2.0 ONLY. The new software will no longer recognize Ampero units with previous firmware (V2.1 and earlier).
The patches of the earlier firmware versions are now not compatible with this V3.0 firmware due to the new features and fatal changes, which means, after updating firmware, ALL YOUR PATCHES IN YOUR AMPERO WILL BE REPLACED BY THE NEW FACTORY/USER PATCHES, AND YOUR CUSTOM IR FILES WILL ALSO BE CLEARED.
Please be sure to export the patches you want to keep by using earlier Ampero Editor software before updating. After updating, you can import them via new Ampero Editor (The Editor will automatically convert your old patch files to new version so that you can use them with V3.0 firmware).
If you accidentally updated to the new firmware before backing up your patches, to get the old patches back, you can roll back to earlier firmware versions (load earlier firmware files when updating) before you edit/save patches with new firmware.

New Features

+ You can now manage your signal chain by clicking "Manage Signal Chain" button

Hotone Ampero Live gig patch suggestions

Mike Duncan wrote>
It just requires pressing 2 buttons but you could hard patch the bank ready to go if you need to go from a clean directly to a solo. You're effectively getting 6 patches per bank this way.
Bank 1: General all songs
Clean + CTL delay for solo
Crunch + CTL Delay for solo (blues sh**)
Marshall type Drive + CTL Delay and reverb for solo (Parisienne sh**)
Bank 2:
Prince clean and as in bank 1 but Patch 3 hard wired for solo
Bank 3:
Dire straight and ZZ top but Patch 3 hard wired for solo
Patch 1 Drive
Patch 3 Solo hard patched

QuoteElantric, I think you may have said something in passing about this. Is there any way to sort of fudge an in/out for an external effect pedal or at least drive an external effect pedal?

Yes  - run an external MFX  in parallel with Ampero

think of the Ampero's 3.5mm TRS AUX INPUT as a Stereo mix bus input, where you feed the stereo outputs from an external effect

You could use a SY-300 -

Guitar > SY-300 GUITAR INPUT >SY-300 THRU OUTput > AMPERO GUITAR INPUT

then route SY-300 3.5mm TRS Headphone out > 3.5mm TRS AUX Input on Ampero

Ampero XLR Out to PA

Could use a GR-55 with Ampero in a similar manner

Create patch where Ampero Expression Pedal control Volume which is 1st in signal Chain

spiral said: ↑
I wanted it to work like a volume pedal in front of an amp which I was able to do by putting the EQ block first in the chain, and then assigning the Exp. 1 pedal to the volume of the EQ. This makes it act like a real volume pedal before your amp and effects so you can get rising gain, and reverb and delay trails that don't get turned down.
