I ordered the Empress MIDIBox2 (has internal jumpers for Meris)

my goal is controlling my Meris PolyMoon AND Meris Enzo with my iPad via a MIDI BLE adapter ( Yamaha MD-BT01) connected to the MIDIBox2 MIDI I/O

QuoteGreat question! Super sorry I don't know how I missed your email.

For most cases you'll be fine with midi in only. That will allow you to control all parameters and switch presets, use expression over midi, etc.
The nice thing about having midi out is that you can save patches from the pedal via sysex. The pedal will also send CCs from all the knobs so you could potentially record a performance in a DAW for example.

Empress used to do midi in only but now they've started doing midi out on the ring in the newest pedals (reverb and echo system so far). And, they've updated midibox2 accordingly with the ability to do midi in and out on channel 1.

Hope that helps to clear things up.

LAYOUT: Meris Enzo controls and presets

MIDI Target Manufacturer(s): Meris
Here is a layout for the new Meris pedal.  I haven't tested it yet as my pedal is still shipping but I've had some emails about it so I thought I would go ahead and post it, everything should work on channel 7.

I added a presets pages specifically for the Enzo this time.  What I recommend to get full value from the layout is to save your presets to the iPad and to the Pedal.  Many times I made sounds I really like with the meris pedals but days later when I recalled my favorite preset I had no idea how I had arrived at that sound.  If I save the preset to the pedal as well as the layout I can recall my preset from the pedal and recall the knobs settings from the iPad to make small adjustments to the preset while knowing where everything is set.

The meris pedals do midi in and out so I could have used the learn feature in MIDI Designer to save my self a significant amount of time making the layout if I would have been patient and waited until I had the pedal to do it.  It will also track the current values so knob changes on the pedal are reflected on the iPad screen.

Quite suprising you have to solder on the pcb to get it working. I guess you can order them presoldered for your device?

No - thats because its a Empress MIDIBox2 TRS<>MIDI I/O adapter)   -and supports many third party products (Empress, Meris, and Chase Bliss Audio products) with TRS <> MIDI connectivity. ( my #1 choice for versatility, and I know how to solder)

How to Solder

I advise learn to Solder - its a necessary skill for modern electric guitarists

the "official" Meris MIDI  I/O  TRS to MIDI box is here (  - no soldering required )
