I realize this is the 95000 thread but the supposition you give about the RC-300 isn't completely correct.

Are you talking about on demand immediate switching and execution to pre-recorded backing and starting playback.  This is possible and I do it all of the time.

Say you have a pre-recorded backing in memory position 1.   But imagine you're performing loop #7 and you decide to cut to an ending and press all start/stop.

Either use an external footswitch to increment/decrement down to position 1 where the recording is or reach down and do it with your hand.  Then press all start/stop to execute it.

You say that "only 3 tracks" but those three tracks are stereo and if you have a multitrack that you bounce to two you can do a HECK of a lot or even just recording into the looper.
Both tunes in the example were put together live at gigs and saved to the looper for later retrieval.  The only downside is saving the loops takes far longer than loading, it's still doable.

Here's a live example of one tune ending then immediately going to the next tune in a different bank, starting tune memory #7, next tune is in memory position 1:

Track 7 ends, I switch to memory 1 and start the tune, then gradually stop it by subtracting loops.

V1.14 2018-02-12
* Prevent freeze (unresponsive transport & loop selection) if playback is stopped
during a brief window in the leadup to transition from current loop to next loop.

V1.13 2018-11-19
* Reduce the time between pressing the UNDO footswitch and completing undo/redo
from approx 700ms to approx 50ms (typical).

V1.12 2018-09-17
* Fix crash overdubbing a loop that is a multiple of the FAT32 cluster size
Reproduced when overdubbing a quantized loop that is a multiple of 38BPM,
  e.g. Multiple of 2 bars @ 76 BPM; Multiple of 3 bars @ 114BPM etc.
However could occur with a non-quantized recording with a file length that
happens to be an exact multiple of the cluster size.
* Fix MIDI CC 117 (BX mode) which previously simply did not work.
* Keep following MIDI Clock/song position after erasing loop. Prevents losing
place in loop after full erase, as reported in BX:BR mode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.11 2018-05-30

* Clear reverse state when selecting empty loop
* Capture/restore user-applied tempo changes
* Slow led blink for CX mode; fast for BX
* Fix false count-in in CX mode (display -0.1)
* Fix display issues in BX mode (display -0.1)
* Add new BX mode to start at next bar, instead of beat
* New PAGE sub-menu BX:
   - BX:BT starts play/record on the next beat (as for previous versions)
   - BX:BR starts play/record on the first beat of the next bar (new option)
  Assigned to MIDI CC 117
* Resume playback from PLAY FSW in Ext Sync mode
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

v1.10 2018-04-30

* Improved support for foreign WAV files (not recorded on LF1) to allow
Undo/Redo operations. Erase information is now maintained in an extra file
QLIST.DAT instead of in the WAV file headers. Note that QLIST.DAT is deleted
when there is no erase information.
* Allow Fade-Out function in all external sync modes when PLAY FSW pressed.
Note that MIDI stop from XT and BX modes will end playback abruptly without
  fade out, as usual.
* Send MIDI Start message for a new Quantized recording with Count In = OFF.
Previous version only sent the message when Count In was enabled.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

V1.04 2018-03-16

* Allow loop number to wrap around from 99 to 00 and 00 to 99 when rotating
  the encoder.
* Allow loop number to wrap around from 99 to 00 and 00 to 99 when
incrementing/decrementing through loop numbers with LOOP Up/Down
Footswitches. Do not allow wrap around when holding either footswitch for
  speed scroll.
* Keep Bars/Beats mode displayed after changing loop numbers but display the
new loop number for ~1.5 seconds. If changing loops during playback, display
the blinking loop number until shortly after the new loop begins playing.
* Add EXT CLOCK mode: MIDI Clock Only (CX), for syncing to devices that do
not produce MIDI Start messages. Incoming MIDI Clock messages determine the
tempo;  MIDI Start, Stop, Continue & SPP messages are ignored. Otherwise the
units behaves as if it is internal sync mode for Play/Record/Overdub from
footswitch. If not receiving MIDI Clock, the EXT.CLOCK LED will flash and
the unit will not Play, Record or Overdub.  An active Play/Record/Overdub
operation will continue at the last external tempo if MIDI Clock is lost.
