Japan content

I set YouTube playback speed to 1.75x

Still conveys operation of R20 three effects blocks. And focus on building a Guitar Effect patch on the unit without diving into Guitar Lab

The mini Zoom GCE-3 makes a decent R20 companion for a mobile setup,  allowing same workflow -but GCE-3 has essentially a Zoom G5n DSP

I used a Win 10 computer, ( no R20 USB Drivers for Win7, 8,1) took a few minutes for Zoom Guitar Lab to connect to R20  - I see that Guitar Lab is unable to Edit effects on R20 - instead Guitar Lab app is used to swap out Zoom Effect types in the limited R20 memory space  - R20 will not replicate owning a Zoom MFX processor -

I successfully installed a 500GB SD card into R20, R20  USB Card Reader function is  working - its enabled in the SD Card System area

I successfully installed the Win10 USB Driver - and the USB Audio works on Win 10

Here is Reaper identifying R20 as 8 in 4 out ASIO Audio device

Here is Reaper MIDI I/O settings - R20 does NOT function as MIDI device over USB

I really like the form factor but I do not get why they didn't go for combo inputs instead.
Did you owners find any problems to connect line output devices (synth, GP10, sy1000 at the same time?) VG99 has balanced outputs so not a problem.

Thanks

The R20 form factor and size is appealing -

They avoided XLR/TRS Combo jacks to lower cost

But R20 build quality is very poor, full plastic  - my big pet peeve is lack of 1/8" TRS Headphone output - all my headphones employ 1/8" 3.5mm TRS plugs  - and im constantly misplacing TRS 1/8" to 1/4" TRS adapter

There are XLR-M to TRS Female adapters - i get them in bulk

still exploring where do USB Computer Outputs 1/2/3/4 get mapped to on current 1.00 Firmware there are no settings for USB routing.

and it was stupid long for Guitar Lab to connect  - required a working Internet connection too.

There is much room for improvement with future R20 firmware updates over the next year

I suggest skip the R20 and get a Tascam Model 12 - far better features and connectivity (12 in / 10 out via USB ) to far more Operating Systems without all the adapter cables

admin, next time I see a source for those 1/8" to 1/4" stereo headphone adapters, I'll try to remember to share it with you. I love them and lose them a little too much.

One comes with each Sony MDR-V8 headphone I buy, and I picked up a few here and there but can't recall ever seeing them for sale yet. I'm good for now, but I will surely lose a few more, once COVID gets lost and we friends get back together.
My best tool for helping me keep them is my homemade desk, because the top shelf's made of standard pegboard from the hardware store, the kind you hang tools from. 2 layers, lined up, so the holes are useful.
The holes are a great place for 1/4" plugs. Got a few short patch cables in there, too, and unused zip ties hanging in other holes, ready to grab and go.

I try to keep one in each VG-99. If I unscrew it to use the headphone in a 1/8" jack, the adapter either goes into the desk holes or goes right back to the headphone jack I just yanked it from.

same here - I cant find spare TRS headphone adapters because all are currently packed away in the gig bag for GR-55 / VG-99/SY-1000)
Luckily my Kemper Stage provides a direct 1/8" TRS Headphone jack

Zoom R20 firmwareVersion 2.40・
Release to support firmware that accompanied component changes and    to fix the following issues in July 2022.

1. If used as an audio interface when in Multitrack mode with DAW Control On while connected     to a computer (Windows/Mac), launching the Guitar Lab app would cause the R20 to become    inoperable.

2. Switching between the Track View Screen and Level Meter View Screen during recording     would cause sound to be recorded momentarily without the Compressor/Limiter/Noise Gate     being applied.

3. Pressing the REC key when the Project Name setting screen, which is in the New Project     Details, was open would cause proper key operation and sound input to stop being possible.

4. Other minor issues were also fixed.
