I'd say that the GK5 is a step down from GK 1 ,2 and 3.
Leaving out normal PU input, mix switch, the 2 GK ctls and the GK volume.
Not a great thing imho.
Using it with older models.. ( or with the GM800 + a GT1000 ) , you'd have to use 2 to 3 cables ( + converter)
and use up a lot of ctl assigns to have the same controls available. F.I. The SY-1000 is already short in that regard. 1 expression and 4 ctls + the GK ctls is barely enough, making me thinking of adding a midi ctl.

I don't see the advantage of having the AD happen on/in the guitar or the TRS cable.
The one thing is the serial connector on the unit but as of now there's only adding another GM800 and there's also the question of how well it might work with serial out to a converter and into f.I. SY-1000.

After Boss released GP-10 , SY-300 and SY-1000 with problems not yet all addressed, I'm growing more and more sceptical of their releases.

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...

For me the volume control hurts because I routinely use volume swells and I find using a floor pedal awkward for that.
As long as patch up/down is available somewhere it's ok.

For me the actual switching to a more readily available sturdy cable seems to make sense going forward.   The adapters will be useful.

Anyway, it is what it is.
