Has anyone done a  A/B on the GT-001 and the GT-100 to see if the are identical in sound?
I love the 001 and hope the 100 is the same basic box.
Thanks Bill
PS MAN Roland/Boss has really stepped up and made these things sound great!. GP-10 as well. Just wonderful.
They are up with the best gear out there sound wise.
I can make them sound damn near exact to anything. AND very quickly.

Hi, Bill,
I currently own both the GT-001 AND GT-100 (don't ask!) and have spent countless hours creating Bass & Guitar patches for each of them. I can confirm that the core sounds are identical. However, many of the onboard factory patches, and the professional 'name' patches provided via the Tone Centre Library, have performance nuances that are specifically linked to various pedals/control switches on the GT-100 which, of course, the GT-001 does not possess.

MOD Edit:  Just be sure the GT100 under consideration has the " the Version 2.0 firmware update"   - older GT-100 firmware lacks the dynamics that arrived with the GT-100 Version 2.0 firmware

Thank you for your help!
I must say the new amp models sound so much better than the past Boss/Roland products.

Out of interest Bill is the VG-99 still your personal processor of choice these days ?
I have tried the GP-10 & while the reverbs / delays are better I just find it too limiting after using the 99 so I'm staying put, I also seem to find using the interface direct on the 99 much quicker to work with (not the PC editor)

I'm wondering the same thing...what has the 001 got that the 99 doesn't have? Thanks.

VG-99 = Designed in 2006

GT-001 = Designed in 2013

* Seven additional years of Roland R&D Labs improving their COSM DSP Alogrithms for more accurate dynamic response
* Faster DSP capable of higher MIPs (Millions Instructions per second

I just noticed on the GT-001. No midi. Jeepus Creepus Boss what gives?

I was just quietly thinking maybe I could throw a GT-001 on a pedalboard and rock out a bit cheaper (and smaller) than a GT100.

Maybe not.

Its the popular trend/

Many have discovered the $35 Raspberry PI single board computer (+ USB to MIDI Cable) provides the missing standard MIDI I/O to GP-10, GT-001

Thanks Elantric. Are there any super dummy instructions for this here at vguitar? I checked a few of the threads and realised I'm going to have to grasp a few programming concepts. Indeed it may well be a cool learning exercise.

Elantric - I m completely foxed by the intricacies of connecting the GP-10 to midi controller.  Will Raspberry Pi 2 Model B (1GB) With Clear Case [NEWEST VERSION] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T87CSAG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00) serve the purpose..? :-\.  Does it have midi ports to connect to the FCB1010 and usb port to connect to the GP-10.... ::)

With a MIDX-10 and a GT-001, seems it could be possible to get control comparable to the GT-100 using a MIDI floor controller?

gumtown

Yes you could,
but then comes the point were a GT-100 would be more useful, with the S/R loop, dual displays, 8 control knobs.
Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

Yes, always a compromise...cost, size, functionality, form-factor, ...
