Title: Boss GT series - Dedicated Forum area now that BossGTCentral is gone?
Post by: Elantric on November 21, 2014, 09:44:24 AM
Since BossGTCentral.com  is long gone, its cool many of the core members from there have found interest in joining us here at VGuitarforums.

Let me know If I should consider creating a dedicated area here on our forum for the older Boss GT series?

I'm thinking just one area to cover Boss GT-3, GT-5, GT-6, GT-8, GT-10

I know Gumtown already makes Floorboard Editors for most of those already

and the GT-Pro, GT-6B, and GT-10B.
there is an editor for each and all of them too.
I think one section for all, a discussion topic and a patch exchange area should do it.

Please do.I gigged tonite with a GT10 and a Roland KC300 in a five piece female fronted loud as hell 2 guitar band and my tone was perfect for this live performance.Lots of players in the crowd.Lots of compliments on my playing and tone.Super simple to set up and tear down.Killer wah.
I found myself forgetting about what I was playing through and just played. When I use my line 6 HD unit I am much more aware of it and much more worried about it getting killed by a drink/ falling drunk etc...I sure dont worry about the pedal or the amp with this rig.

I am digging the GT10 so much used direct to PA I am considering a Boss GT8 as a pedal to dedicate to other projects/bands.

So I vote yes to a seperate Boss GT area

That would be cool if you have the room! A lot of good people were there and very knowledgeable. I have used the GT10 and GT100 both with my GR55. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. I sold my GT10 a while back but I'm thinking of picking up another one for use with my Tubemeister 18. I'll throw a yes in the mix.

I'd appreciate a forum for RC-50 users instead of lumping it in with "other loopers"

Elantric, might I make a suggestion. The forum title (  Boss GT (Legacy)  ), might be a little misunderstood. May I humbly suggest maybe ( Boss GT series MFX pedals ). The "Legacy" kinda threw me off thinking there was a Boss product called "Legacy". Just a thought. Very cool to open the VGuitar forums up to this line of product discussion. I'm sure it will grow quickly in popularity.

I was going to suggest a thesaurus - but instead I changed the title of the new message area for old discontinued Boss GTs to:

Boss GT Series (older models)

I like older stuff
myself included

used GT10s can be had dirt cheap on Guitar Centers used site

GT8s too

might get a GT8 just for use with tube amps

Quotemight get a GT8 just for use with tube amps
Same here - I really like the point and shoot of the full knobs on GT-8 when i sit in with a band and zero time to prep

+ the GT-8 has more capabilities than even the new ME-80 in regards to CTL assignments and MIDI Control I/O

yeah the ME stuff blows.
The GT100 has those silly accel/looper pedals
assignable control is what keeps pros using the Boss units
GT-8 in clean shape for $179 or less is lookin pretty good

Bought a GT-6 yesterday for about 120$. No complaints being used as a MIDI-Controller to switch amp-channels on a ENGL.
Furthermore I use the Noise Suppressor on the ENGL HighGain-Channel and some usual Effects like delay and Wah.

By the way: Which way is the best to boost a lead-tone via an additional effect?
I could need 1-3 dB more when adding delay to the Rhythm-Tone for solos. A EQ MidBoost?

EQ is a good one for boost, you can add a bit of mid boost curve as well if required.

I picked up a GT-6 a few months ago for $50.00  good deal,
had 2 missing knobs and needed a good clean.

Greetings from Germany!

I had been very active in the old GT 10 forum at BossGTCentral.com ... landed here while googling for some special GT 10 info, and it was a nice surprise to find that there is still a GT 10 forum out there. I registered instantly ;-)

And I really dig it that GUMTOWN is still active - hi Gumtown!

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex, A nice surprise !!
Yes I am still alive  ;D

Moved on from the GT-10 to GT-100 > GT-1 > GR-20 > GR-33 and still have GR-55, SY-300, Helix Lt, and a GT-1B.
