Greg Koch's Fishman Takeover! 2-22-2021 Live Music

Recently picked up a Strandberg with these in it. "Modern" version.

Pretty versatile. The two humbuckers (alnico/ceramic) have a decent amount of versatility. Different from what I have in my Godin LGXT (2 Dimarzios with a 5 way switch).

My Schecter guitar has a Fluence Modern in the bridge position, there's a mini-switch to go from one voicing to the other.   The up position is like a hot, quiet articulate passive pickup.  The down position is like running a really hot modern active pickup - a bit like an EMG81TW with more output if you can believe it.   The tone controls on the modern really seem to work.  If you want to warm these pickups up to sound more like a classic humbucker you just back off on the tone control a little - the volume also works for this purpose for those "in between" sounds.  This guitar also has a sustaniac system in it, weirdly that pickup can sound like a clean warm jazz pickup run clean  when not being used as a sustaniac driver and with dirt like a classic strat neck pickup sound.   Anyway, very interesting that the Fluence reminds me a bit of a GK3 with how quiet it is when running distorted tones.

One more thing about the Fishmans - they're so loud/gainy it's unbelievable.  If you run a high gain amp setup you will need to back off on your settings because it's too much (thanks Snow Miser) if you are already running your settings high in a high gain setup.

Depends on the version- my Koch Gristletone Telecaster Fluence set is not high gain, just no noise Fender Tele tone  and versatile that can get beefy P90 type tone at press of a button

I suppose it's also possible that new strings and a 100% fresh battery makes it seem that way - now that I'm listening to it today it's more reasonable.

This video kind of opened my eyes too - Jim Lill has a great point - what I hear in my room via my speakers/amp is not what you might hear on a recording and.... :
