Its an update to the former Axon / yamaha Hex PU - it allows Axon to sell a turn key complete system -for the Terratec  / Axon  AX-50 dealer network -  without those same dealers relying on being a Roland dealer just to order Hex Pu's with Gk13 pin output to work with the Axon Guitar to MIDI conversion units. - which makes sense - a Mom and Pop store has an easier time becoming a Terratec dealer than a full line Roland Dealer.   Its compatible with the GK-3 and the VG8, VG-88, VG-99, GR-20, GR-33, etc. It fully complies with Roland's GK PU spec.  Though I understand like  its predecesor (Yamaha G1D, Axon AIX-103 ) it has a tighter pole piece spacing - more suitable for Gibsons / PRS / Epiphone with Tune-O Matic type bridges.  It adds the adjustabe radius yoke - just like the GK-3

By contrast the Roland GK-2A / GK-3's  have a wider pole piece spacing - like a vintage Fender Strat bridge string spacing.

There is hype on other forums this new Axon PU100  GK pu has a more "Seymour Duncan" sound -compared to GK-3  but it seems like clever marketing to me.

I list all Mag GK Hex PU's here:

I suspect it will be pretty similar to the GK series of pickups. But it will be interesting to learn how the (almost inevitable) differences between it and the GK series might effect the tone of the VG-99.

No difference in Audio/MIDI conversion, I suppose.

But, in audio rendering, there is differences between GK and Piezo, so between GK and Axon pickup why not  ?

Right - there is bound to be SOME difference.  The question is, how much. If anyone followed those links that Sustainiac put up, there was quite an absurdly hyped discussion of the potential of this pickup on some other lists.  Maybe it will change the world...but I bet it wont ;-)
