Gundy Keller has written some brilliant patches for the new GP10 and Frets in Space is one of my favourites.

For some reason I thought I'd have a go at translating it for VG99. Should be simple, eh? Wrong!

The big deal about this patch on the GP10 is it demonstrates the very lush studio quality reverb it has. In comparison the VG99's reverb blocks are not really anywhere close to it in terms of quality. So what to do?

In the end I dedicated the whole of COSM B to attempting to produce a really lush reverb! Stereo Chorus acts as an aural Isopon P38 to smooth over the digital "roughness" of a maxed out Hall 2 reverb. Then the whole lot goes through a stereo pan delay to get that gorgeous stereo spread of the reverb expanding into stereo.

Does it work? I think it's very good for the VG99... :)

Very nice indeed!  I love it!  Sounds almost (dare I say it?) reminiscent of the reverbs you'd hear on an ECM Records production.

I think your trick here could be also used on an acoustic guitar patch on A.

Cheers buddy - I'm guessing some people will listen and think "what's the big deal? it's just reverb!" but if you cut it all back to just one reverb block of Hall2 at 10 seconds well, it ain't quite the same, lol!

I'm liking the nylon idea - may have a crack at that :)

sweet. I tried  the nylon guitar - nice but too much bass for me. I did raise the output of both guitars for more level.

This is one of the patches I will miss from the GP10 - thanks for recreating it for the 99 :-)
