Still playing around. I got a 'Midisport Uno' (USB to MIDI) from Sweetwater. So, I can now connect my Casio wk3000 to my laptop. I played a midi file (on my laptop) into the Casio keyboard. Using the 'headphone jack' on the keyboard, back into the laptop (using a small Alesis USB mixer). Recorded to audio, as it played, with Audacity, and saved as a ' .wav'  file. It can now be loaded and played by the GR-55 audio player. Cool! 8). Here is the wav file.

FWIW - a free MIDI to Wav converter is here
http://www.conversion-tool.com/midi

typically these use generic General MIDI Sound Set based on Sound Fonts

Jim Wintringham

that would be lots easier! You could still use Audacity to convert from mp3 to wav.   I did want to use the sound font set in the Casio for my experiment. thanks for another option.

Hi Jim.
I know, it's a pity if i resume old topics, but i suggest roland sound canvas standalone.
Inside there's a useful export capability, so in a second you obtain a wav file with high quality soundbank.
Is always possible uncheck voice track or another instrument if you like to.
bye
EDIT :
i forgot Edirol SD-20. use hardware module soundfont with an algorithm for conversion engine.

Nothing is impossible,if someone else will do for you.

Jim Wintringham

Yes , that is also a very good sound module. I got a copy of that program when I was using Band in a box (PGmusic.com)....and it was easy to use. Thanks for another alternate possibility :)
