I was playing with the free MS-3 Editor, to explore what signal routing and control options  the MS-3 has to offer
https://www.boss.info/us/products/ms-3/downloads/

Interesting in the SYSTEM Area, there is assignment for the MS-3's CTL !/2 OUT jack functions

see page 40 of the MS-3 Parameter Guide

LAT  =(LATCH) Latch operation ( aka Toggle Switch action )

PLS  = (PULSE) Send a pulse when changing patches. (aka Momentary Switch action )

INV  = INV (INVERTED Polarity Pulse - aka Momentary Switch action changes from N.C. (Normally Closed)  to  N.O. (Normally Open)  )

TAP2  = Turns on/off twice at the Master BPM setting when the patch changes.

TAP3  = Turns on/off three times at the Master BPM setting when the patch changes

TAP4  = Turns on/off four times at the Master BPM setting when the patch changes

Small addition: LAT means that it's latched in OFF mode, and disconnected on ON mode.

Weird guys there at Boss/Roland.  ???
